The optical fiber technician assistant is a professional who supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of optical fiber networks. **Responsibilities:** * **Assisting in optical fiber cable installation:** Help pulling and securing cables on poles, conduits, or underground. Assist in organizing cables within splice or termination boxes. * **Preparing for splicing and connectorization:** Clean cables and fibers. Cut, strip, and prepare cables for splicing or connectorization. Handle tools such as cleavers, strippers, pliers, etc. * **Assisting in testing procedures:** Support the technician in using equipment such as OTDR, Power Meter, and Fiber Identifier. Check continuity, signal loss, and signal quality. * **Preventive and corrective maintenance:** Participate in inspections and maintenance activities to prevent failures. Help identify and fix breaks or signal issues. * **Workplace organization and safety:** Keep the work area clean and organized. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) according to safety regulations. * **Transportation and organization of materials:** Load and organize materials and tools in company vehicles.
