This is an open position within the **Medical Practice Solutions** division, specifically for the **Whitebook Solution**, with fully **remote work**. As a **Senior Backend Developer** at Afya, your primary objective will be: to develop and enhance scalable, high-quality web solutions by applying best practices in engineering, architecture, and automation to ensure system performance, security, and efficiency in cloud environments. You will work within the **Software Engineering** area under the **Technology** leadership and join a multidisciplinary team, collaborating daily with colleagues from **Product, Data**, and other teams. **All our opportunities are open to people with disabilities (PwD) and INSS-rehabilitated individuals.** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Responsibilities and Duties — HOW YOU’LL TRANSFORM HEALTHCARE DAILY:** * Develop and maintain scalable web applications, focusing on backend (Node.js or other languages) * Design and evolve software architectures, ensuring quality, performance, and security * Build and consume APIs, adhering to best practices for HTTP-based integration and communication * Model and manage relational databases (SQL) and storage solutions (e.g., S3\) * Solve complex problems using analytical thinking and technical decision-making * Implement and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability * Contribute to building and evolving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation * Work in cloud environments (AWS or similar), supporting infrastructure and scalability decisions * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Product, Design, Engineering) to build solutions * Actively participate in continuous improvement of processes, tools, and engineering best practices * Contribute to cross-cutting topics such as frontend, DevOps, and security, as needed **Requirements and Qualifications — WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (though we don’t expect any single candidate to meet all):** * Experience with Node.js or other backend programming languages * Solid knowledge of Software Architecture and Software Engineering best practices * Experience developing web systems and consuming/building APIs (HTTP) * Proficiency in relational databases (SQL) * Knowledge of file storage solutions (e.g., S3\) * Experience with cloud environments (AWS or other cloud providers) * Knowledge of automated testing and the test pyramid * Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines * Strong analytical ability, logical reasoning, and technical decision-making skills * Generalist profile with interest across multiple areas of Software Engineering (backend, frontend, DevOps, security, processes, and tools) **Additional Information — PEOPLE ARE OUR GREATEST ASSET; that’s why we offer benefits and partnerships for our team.
