Job Summary: A professional responsible for joining and cutting metallic alloy components using various welding and cutting processes, preparing equipment, and controlling the process. Experience in installation and maintenance of fire hydrant systems Joining and cutting metallic alloy components using welding and cutting processes such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), tungsten inert gas (TIG), metal inert gas (MIG), metal active gas (MAG), oxy-fuel, submerged arc welding (SAW), brazing, and plasma. Preparing welding and cutting equipment, accessories, consumables, and components to be welded. Visually inspecting component conditions; beveling components; identifying welding positions; applying degreasers to remove oils and grease; preheating components with a torch; brushing components; gouging components. Identifying the power source (welding machine); adjusting welding and cutting parameters according to IEIS; positioning the wire spool in the feeder; adjusting the torch; selecting tungsten electrodes; identifying the shielding gas according to the welding process; replacing welding and cutting accessories. Controlling welding speed; welding in one or more positions (vertical, horizontal, etc.); welding one or more materials; controlling interpass temperature; eliminating magnetic blow; cleaning tools; replacing wire in the feeder circuit or welding gun; repairing welds (grinding, gouging, etc.); identifying welds via stamp markings; selecting the torch nozzle (tip); selecting the type of shielding gas; adjusting pressure gauges. Experience in installation and maintenance of fire hydrant systems, automatic sprinklers, pump rooms, and piping is a plus.
