




We are inviting **Ph.D. holders to carry out a full-time postdoctoral fellowship**, focused on the development of social indicators for the analysis of health inequalities. The candidate will be stationed and join a research team based at the Center for Integration of Data and Knowledge for Health (CIDACS/IGM/FIOCRUZ), Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. A summary of the research project is attached to this call. The professional will integrate the CIDACS team, working within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Unit on Social and Environmental Determinants of Health Inequalities (SEDHI). We seek highly motivated, creative candidates with strong communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment. We strongly encourage applications from Black researchers, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups. The selected candidate will receive a scholarship of R$ 8,000.00 (eight thousand Brazilian reais), provided they hold a completed Ph.D., for a period of 12 (twelve) months, with high possibility of renewal. It is emphasized that the selected candidate will undergo an initial adaptation and evaluation period of 3 (three) months. **Responsibilities and duties** * Coordinating the theme of health inequalities across different working groups and infrastructure pillars of the SEDHI project (https://cidacs.bahia.fiocruz.br/projeto/sedhi-unidade-de-pesquisa-em-saude-global-sobre-determinantes-sociais-e-ambientais-das-desigualdades-em-saude/) * Producing and writing scientific articles * Participating in and leading research project monitoring meetings * Participating in scientific events **Requirements and qualifications** * Completed Ph.D. in Collective Health or Public Health, and undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities. * Knowledge of areas and topics related to health inequities, social markers of difference, social vulnerability, social justice, gender, race/racism, and intersectionality * Advanced English proficiency. * Familiarity with theoretical perspectives and approaches in the field of health inequalities (e.g., theories of the social determination of health, intersectionality, Latin American social medicine, critical social epidemiology, among others) **Desirable qualifications\*:** * Demonstrated experience and competence in research projects. * Scientific publications on topics related to social inequalities in health * Intermediate or advanced Spanish proficiency * Availability for immediate start. * absence of these qualifications does not prevent application submission, but they will be considered as advantages during candidate selection **Additional information** **Obligations of the Scholarship Grant at CIDACS** Obligations will be established through a Work Plan and activity schedule defined by the research team; Commit full time to the research project; Not receive another scholarship from any other institution; Consult the project coordinator at CIDACS/IGM/FIOCRUZ-BA and partners before accepting any financial support from any other public or private funding source for the research project related to the granted scholarship; Not make changes to the project (initial plan, dates, etc.) without prior approval from the research team; Submit scientific reports and financial expenditure reports within the deadlines specified in the Work Plan, accompanied by the required documentation. Not leave the institution where the research project is being conducted without prior explicit authorization from the project coordinator at CIDACS/IGM/FIOCRUZ-BA and partners, supported by a justified request from the supervisor. The restriction in the previous item does not apply to: Participation in courses relevant to the research project supporting the scholarship, lasting less than one month; Participation in scientific or technical meetings, with or without presentation of papers. Acknowledge CIDACS/IGM/FIOCRUZ-BA in all outputs (articles, books, abstracts presented at meetings, and any other publication or dissemination format) that result, wholly or partially, from the scholarship granted by CIDACS/IGM/FIOCRUZ-BA. Also acknowledge support from any existing public or private funding sources; If the research project related to the granted scholarship has received financial support from any other public or private funding source, the researcher must clearly state and explicitly acknowledge such support, identifying its source, in all forms of dissemination mentioned in the previous item; Ensure appropriate protection of intellectual property rights that may arise from the project supported by CIDACS/IGM/FIOCRUZ-BA and other project partners. CIDACS conducts studies and research based on interdisciplinary projects originating from the linkage of large volumes of data to enhance understanding of social and environmental determinants and policies on population health.
