#### **About the challenge** We are organized into multidisciplinary development teams, each responsible for different product flows. You will join the Pricing & Underwriting team, responsible for maintaining and evolving the services that support Pier’s core domains (quoting, pricing, and business rule editing). We enable integration between high-level rules defined in our internal platform, machine learning models, external APIs, and custom quoting flows in our mobile and web applications. You will work on building and evolving internal tools, APIs, new integrations, and improvements to our rule management platform (similar to Pipefy, Camunda, Crivo, etc.), with direct impact on the insurer’s core. #### **What we expect from you?** Act as a software engineer in one of our squads, supporting maintenance of existing systems and development of new systems and features together with the rest of the team and the technology team. This position requires a high degree of ownership, ability to make architectural decisions in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment, and acting as a technical reference for the team. #### **Responsibilities:** * Technically lead projects within the team’s scope and contribute to cross-team initiatives; * Actively participate in product decisions, proposing technical solutions and improvements based on business domain and context; * Serve as a reference in code reviews, ensuring quality, clarity, and consistency; * Investigate complex production system issues, proposing structural solutions and breaking large problems into smaller parts; * Design and implement APIs considering performance, scalability, and maintainability; * Propose and lead architectural improvements to the platform (data, rules, inter-system communication); * Participate in cross-cutting activities such as RFCs, writing ADRs, technical interviews, and architectural discussions; * Contribute to the team’s technical evolution. #### **Requirements:** * Solid experience of at least 3 years as a Software Engineer, having deployed complex systems to production; * Strong expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar), including modeling, performance tuning, and troubleshooting; * Practical experience developing REST APIs and distributed systems; * Hands-on experience in containerized environments (Docker / Kubernetes) and clear understanding of scalability and observability; * Completed undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related fields, with solid academic foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and databases. #### **Nice-to-have qualifications:** * Knowledge and experience with AWS; * Experience with Business Rules Engines, Decision Management Platforms, or DMNs; * Practical experience with production Kubernetes environments (pod sizing, requests/limits, troubleshooting); * Experience integrating third-party APIs into decision-making flows (e.g., bureaus, external databases); * Postgraduate degree or master’s in Computer Science or Information Systems. #### **Pier Compensation and Benefits** * Health and dental insurance; * Flexible benefit (Caju); * Pier Smartphone Insurance Premium Plan (if covered); * Total Pass; * Extended Maternity/Paternity Leave; * Childcare allowance; * Petin: an app that helps you care for your pet; * Access to the Starbem platform: 5 consultations/month (2 therapy sessions, 1 nutrition consultation, and 2 consultations in other specialties), fully covered by Pier.
