Initially named Auerbach \& Werner, it was formed from the surnames of its German-origin founders: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach. The company expanded and incorporated steel into its production line, changing its name to Electro Aço Altona in 1933\. Thus, the first steel foundry in Santa Catarina—and one of the earliest in Brazil—was born. Over the past decade, the company has acquired other businesses to accommodate and expand its production capacity, while also establishing overseas subsidiaries to strengthen customer support in high-demand commercial regions such as Europe and North America. Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the most dynamic economic sectors to broaden its scope of operations, developing new markets, and delivering its steel solutions across diverse industries.
