Key Highlights: 1. Dedicated focus on shaft and gallery stability in underground mines. 2. Technical guidance and recommendations based on geotechnical analyses. 3. Development of geotechnical risk management programs. **We are ERO**, a mining company born in the heart of Brazil and grown to deliver greater strength and energy worldwide — strength that drives productive sectors and contributes to the development of diverse regions. Since 1979, when operations began at the ***Caraíba*** unit, the company has consolidated its presence in Brazil’s mining sector, expanding to the gold mine at ***Xavantina***, advancing implementation of the ***Tucumã*** unit — set to become one of the country’s leading copper production hubs. Our growth is driven by exploration expertise, enabling us to extend the operational life of our mines and advance new projects such as the ***Furnas Project*** in Pará. Our approach to mining is guided by strong values: Care, Courage, Honesty, Collaboration, and Excellence. These principles lie at the core of everything we do — from the mine floor to strategic decisions. They also guide how we support the growth of every individual at **ERO**. Our objective is clear: *to become Brazil’s best mining company — and we know this is only possible by investing in the people who build this future with us, every day.* **Do you identify with this?** We seek a **Senior Geotechnical Engineer** to perform geotechnical work in the underground mine, directing and overseeing all geotechnical activities conducted at the ore faces of the Ero Caraíba unit. **Work Location:** Jaguarari/BA (Pilar District) **Employment Model:** Permanent, CLT \| On-site **Direct Reporting To:** Geotechnical Coordination **Grow with us!** *\#WeAreEro \#JoinUs \#Opportunity* *ERO does not charge any fees for participation in its recruitment and selection processes. All applications must be submitted exclusively through our official channels.* **Responsibilities and Duties** * Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, including mapping, empirical and numerical analysis, and in-situ investigations to determine rock mass conditions and properties for planned excavations; * Interpret rock mechanics data and mapping to assess rock mass conditions during shaft deepening and underground excavations (galleries, raises, etc.). * Conduct routine site visits to ensure exposed rock mass walls are mapped and characterized; * Analyze geotechnical drilling data from boreholes, Fandrill drilling, field tests, and laboratory tests to understand rock mass conditions using empirical and numerical methods; * Provide technical guidance and recommendations based on analyses; * Review excavation support designs to ensure project stability during and after completion; * Recommend additional or alternative support systems for identified geotechnical risks; * Document support installation locations and develop and implement support layouts and standards; * Develop geotechnical risk management programs for the shaft throughout the mine’s life; * Develop grouting plans to control groundwater, grouting/resin injection in boreholes for cable and bolt installation, borehole filling, and stabilization of highly fractured rock masses; * Supervise all geotechnical aspects during the construction phase, ensuring excavation processes comply with project geotechnical specifications; * Implement quality control procedures to ensure integrity of geotechnical specifications, and knowledge of backfilling methods for excavations: paste fill, rock fill, waste rock, and materials used in excavation stabilization: rock bolts, cables, mesh, shotcrete, and technical testing of underground mine support strength; * Analysis of paste and shotcrete rheology in the context of paste transport for raise backfilling and shotcrete application in underground mines. * Knowledge of seismic behavior and seismic monitoring systems regarding natural and mining-induced in-situ stress responses in rock masses subjected to high stress levels. * Plan and implement a monitoring program to detect rock mass movement, shaft stability, groundwater levels, in-situ and induced stress levels, and vibrations caused by explosive rock blasting — correlating them with potential damage observed in excavations; * Prepare detailed geotechnical reports documenting assessments, recommendations, analytical decisions, construction progress, implementation, and monitoring results on a regular basis; * Report any non-conformities related to underground excavation stability to Technicians, Engineers, and Coordination; * Maintain daily updates of the database so all stakeholders have access to information; * Ability to operate light vehicles on surface and underground; * Lead your team responsibly, ensuring all members understand relevant norms and procedures for their activities, pursuing control, quality, and safety; **Requirements and Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Geology; * Experience in underground mine geotechnics (the candidate will focus specifically on short- and long-term shaft and associated gallery stability assessment, and on developing systematic monitoring and engineering controls to execute the project); * Experience/training in: rock mechanics, structural geology, fundamentals of mining engineering, hydrogeology, principles of geotechnical engineering; * Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software for mining (e.g., Rocscience, Map3D); * Knowledge of empirical methods for geotechnical risk analysis and excavation stability. * Knowledge of mine planning software (e.g., Datamine, Deswik, Vulcan), monitoring techniques and equipment, and project management; * Proficiency in microseismic monitoring software is considered a plus. * English proficiency is considered a plus; * Driver’s license Class B for operating light vehicles in underground mines. **Additional Information** **What We Offer?** Medical Insurance; Dental Insurance; Chartered Transportation; Life Insurance; Profit Sharing (PLR); Private Pension Plan; Meal Voucher; On-site Cafeteria; Extended Maternity and Paternity Leave; Gym Membership Assistance (Gympass); Pharmacy Assistance; Education Assistance for Children; English Language Learning Incentive; Triennial Bonus; Additional Vacation Bonus (2/3 of vacation pay). #### **We are ERO, one of Brazil’s leading producers of copper and gold.** **We belong to a global group headquartered in Canada with a strong presence in Brazil.
