Job Summary: The Laboratory Assistant - Macroscopy assists in preparing samples for macroscopic analysis, following established procedures while ensuring quality and safety under supervision. Key Highlights: 1. Assistance in preparing samples for macroscopic analysis 2. Work under the supervision of an experienced professional 3. Ensuring quality and safety in activities The Laboratory Assistant \- Macroscopy is responsible for assisting in preparing samples for macroscopic analysis, following procedures and technical standards. Performs cleaning and organization of the area, as well as proper disposal of waste. Works under the supervision of a more experienced professional, ensuring quality and safety of performed activities. * Receive materials from Screening I, properly identified, and store them separately according to origin order. * Distribute materials by date and origin to each macroscopy technician to prevent examination delays due to workload. * Retrieve the material to be analyzed and place it on your workbench. * Verify patient name, exam number (AP), number of containers, and medical request. * Perform sectioning of surgical specimens and small biopsies based on medical requests (diagnostic hypotheses). * Remove portions of the material to be analyzed for identification of possible anomalies. * Describe sample characteristics in the computer system, record weight and measurements of materials, as well as external and internal organ features—such as color and consistency—for improved diagnosis. * Place the removed portion of the material into the container (k7\), with the exam number written directly on the container, and immerse it in 10% formalin solution until the end of the daily routine. * Load samples into the histotechnical equipment TP1020 and/or Histocore Peloris 3 for processing. * Assist and accompany the pathologist during macroscopic examinations as needed. * Power on and program the histotechnical equipment TP1020 and/or Histocore Peloris 3 for biological sample processing. * Know how to power on and operate the cryostat during frozen-section examinations. * Perform staining of slides to be analyzed. * Retrieve the report listing material numbers to be discarded weekly and send those materials to Screening II. * Weigh and dispose of biological waste and formalin weekly. * Perform other tasks related to the position, as directed by the supervisor.
