Electro Aço Altona S.A. was founded on March 8, 1924, as a small foundry and mechanical repair workshop. Initially named Auerbach \& Werner, it was formed by combining the names of its German-origin owners: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach. The company grew and incorporated steel into its production line, changing its name to Electro Aço Altona in 1933\. Thus, the first steel foundry in Santa Catarina—and one of the first in Brazil—was born.
Over the past decade, it has acquired other companies to accommodate and expand its production line, as well as established overseas subsidiaries to enhance customer support in high-demand commercial regions such as Europe and North America.
Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the most dynamic sectors of the economy to broaden its operations, develop new markets, and deliver its steel solutions across diverse industries.
