From these two establishments, the company Silcar Pneus Ltda. was formally founded in April 1985, using the first letters of the names “Silvio” and “Carlos.” Initially, the company traded in new, retreaded, and used tires. In 1988, Silcar Pneus launched its own tire retreading plant, also located in São José do Rio Preto. With imported machinery and a strong focus on carcass quality and other raw materials, the final product gained wide market acceptance and high quality standards, making the group increasingly competitive and well-structured. At the beginning of the 1990s, the company shifted its focus toward opening and acquiring retail stores and delivering services through its automotive centers, while seeking partnerships with multinational tire manufacturers operating in Brazil—including an initial partnership with Pirelli, followed later by Michelin, and currently Continental. In subsequent years, Silcar Pneus expanded its product portfolio, consolidating its presence in the heavy-duty and agricultural tire markets. Gradually, we began serving not only large truck fleets but also independent truck drivers—the backbone of our country’s logistics—and entered the truck tire retreading segment via a specialized plant located in Araraquara. Within the agricultural tire segment, we facilitate supply to selected implementers and directly serve Brazilian farmers.
