5:00 PM** **Employment Type: Indefinite-term contract** **Application Period: December 12, 2025 – December 17, 2025** **Required Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or related fields * Experience with geotechnical inspections and open-pit mines * Knowledge of geotechnical instrumentation data analysis * Experience with dams, slopes, waste rock dumps, or similar structures * Ability to read and interpret technical reports, maps, drawings, and models * Capacity to work in the field and interface with operational teams * Familiarity with geotechnical support tools and systems (e.g., GIS, geotechnical software) * Preferred: experience in railroads or large-scale infrastructure projects * Active CREA registration (or eligibility for obtaining one) **Preferred Qualifications:** * Professional experience (in the field): preferably over 4 years * Specific Knowledge: Intermediate English proficiency * Microsoft Office Suite * Experience with geotechnical software applications (Leapfrog, AutoCAD, Rocscience Suite, Datamine) * Master’s degree or specialization in Geotechnics **Job Responsibilities and Activities:** * Plan and execute geotechnical investigation and drilling for open-pit, underground, and foundation mines * Conduct and interpret slope stability analyses for open-pit mine slopes * Geotechnically validate short-, medium-, and long-term mining plans, as well as project feasibility assessments * Develop and monitor geomechanical description and classification of rock masses, including geotechnical and geological-structural mapping of open-pit, underground, and foundation mines * Execute, analyze, and monitor geotechnical investigation campaigns and laboratory testing * Conduct studies to support new water rights approvals and maintenance of existing ones * Manage water resources, including groundwater availability studies, identification of water sources for projects, and implementation of water use management at operational units * Monitor development of internal and externally contracted geotechnical and hydrogeological projects, studies, and consulting services, applying internal project development criteria—including contract oversight in case of external contracting * Coordinate, conduct, and support internal and external audits of open-pit mines * Support the Environmental Area regarding environmental licensing and environmental management, including preparation of studies and issuance of reports * Participate in technical missions to assess business opportunities and conduct due diligence within the scope of expertise * Monitor inspections conducted by public agencies in geotechnics and hydrogeology * Address and consolidate corporate demands and operational support needs for Vale relating to geotechnics and hydrogeology * Register with CREA-MG, subject to Vale’s approval, to perform the role—contingent upon activities to be carried out (Vale’s endorsement required for ART signatures) * Issue Technical Responsibility Statements (ART) for works and services related to geotechnics and hydrogeology * Interpret and verify monitoring data *
