Researcher I (Structural Composite Materials) – RP 18626, Fiep System (Fiep, Sesi, Senai, and IEL) What are the challenges and main responsibilities? Lead research, development, and innovation projects in structural composite materials and structural polymers (thermosets and thermoplastics). Actively prospect new opportunities by identifying technological demands, industrial challenges, and potential partners. Develop and structure technical proposals for innovation projects (Embrapii, FINEP, SENAI calls for proposals, private partnerships, and public tenders). Plan, conduct, and interpret material characterization analyses and tests, ensuring technical rigor and result reliability. Define technological pathways, experimental methodologies, and material and process development strategies, proposing solutions for complex challenges. Produce technical reports, results presentations, and scientific publications/patents. Support and mentor junior researchers, scholarship holders, and interns, ensuring the team’s technical growth. Contribute to laboratory practice management and continuous improvement, ensuring organization, quality, safety, and traceability. Monitor technological trends and map opportunities for applying structural composite materials in strategic sectors (automotive, aerospace, construction, oil & gas, etc.). **Requirements:** **Interested? Then check whether you meet the requirements below:** Completed undergraduate degree. Preferred fields: Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines. Completed master’s degree in topics related to structural composite or polymeric materials; Experience in selection, characterization, and processing of polymeric and structural composite materials. Experience with material characterization techniques, such as: TGA, DSC, DMA, Rheometry, SEM, OM, EDS/EDX, UV-Vis, FTIR Solid knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials, including formulation, curing, processing, and mechanical behavior. **Knowledge of high-performance composite materials:** carbon fibers, glass fibers, nanotechnology. Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, such as: filament winding, thermoforming, resin infusion (VARTM, RTM), hand lay-up, compression molding. Experience writing technical reports, delivering technical presentations, and interpreting experimental data. Driver’s license category B (valid) is desirable. Willingness to travel. Internal candidates must meet eligibility criteria PL 0031 (4.2.3). **Desirable Qualifications:** A Ph.D. in polymeric or composite materials will be considered an advantage. **Desirable experience with processing equipment:** heated press, thermoformer, filament winder, curing oven, extruder, injection molder, torque rheometer. Advanced Microsoft Office suite proficiency is desirable.
