Key Activities and ResponsibilitiesThe shipping analyst’s duties involve management, analysis, and planning: * **Transportation Planning and Management:** Plan and schedule cargo departures, quote and negotiate freight rates, and select carriers—aiming to optimize costs and delivery timelines. * **Documentation Issuance and Verification:** Ensure accurate issuance of invoices, cargo manifests, and other required transport documents, guaranteeing legal compliance. * **Inventory and Warehouse Control:** Monitor and analyze finished-goods inventory levels, ensuring appropriate storage conditions and inventory accuracy. * **Process Optimization:** Identify bottlenecks and propose improvements across the entire shipping workflow—from order picking to final loading. * **Performance Indicator (KPI) Analysis:** Monitor and analyze key metrics such as *OTIF* (On-Time In-Full—on-time and complete delivery), freight costs, and operational efficiency, preparing management reports. * **Team Coordination:** In some cases, may assign and supervise tasks performed by shipping assistants and coordinators. * **Technology Use:** Utilize warehouse management systems (*WMS*), integrated enterprise resource planning systems (*ERP*), and advanced spreadsheets to manage operations.
