Identify, monitor, and report cases of diseases, health conditions, and public health events subject to mandatory notification; implement preventive actions and strategies for such conditions and ensure data and information control. Collaborate with institutional Epidemiological Surveillance processes and workflows. **Responsibilities and Duties** * 1\. Ensure that strategic planning goals, strategies, policies, and objectives are communicated and understood by all staff members; manage departmental processes in alignment with other departments and leadership to achieve organizational results; * 2\. Perform other duties inherent to the position or as requested by immediate supervisors, according to institutional needs. * **Main Activities:** * Uphold, practice, and disseminate the mission, vision, and values established by the management of Hospital Regional Abelardo Santos (HRAS); * Maintain strict ethical conduct and safeguard ethical behavior among all professionals; * Comply with, and enforce compliance with, labor laws, external standards, and internal regulations; * Ensure maintenance of buildings, facilities, equipment, furniture, machines, and instruments, optimizing their use; * Ensure execution of sector activities—planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring them per Work Instructions, policies, and decisions approved by the Board; * Maintain regular contact with managers and teams to continuously improve process interactions; * Notify area leadership promptly in cases of nonconformity or incidents; * Ensure timely provision of accurate, sector-specific data through established monthly reports and upon request for analysis and decision-making, per senior management directives and LGPD requirements; * Attend meetings as needed to ensure quality of care, address service needs, and support continuous improvement programs; * Support and conduct internal or external training as required by the sector, hospital demands, or the annual training program supervised by the NVE; * Participate in mandatory committees as needed, supporting investigation activities conducted by the Mortality Review Committee and the Patient Safety and Quality Unit; * Conduct epidemiological surveillance of diseases, health conditions, and public health events per sanitary legislation—using active, passive, and retrospective case-finding methods via the PR system and clinical units—to guarantee 24-hour Epidemiological Surveillance operations; * Ensure correct completion of control spreadsheets and information systems to maintain up-to-date records; * Participate in and ensure proper execution of mortality reporting workflows during assigned shifts, supporting bereavement care, death recognition, and routing of SVO and IML deaths per institutional routines and Ministry of Health manuals; * Notify the first higher-level Epidemiological Surveillance authority of mandatory-notifiable diseases and health conditions (MNDHC) identified within the hospital, using tools and reporting workflows defined by the Health Surveillance Secretariat (SVS/MS); * Immediately notify mandatory-notifiable diseases requiring urgent reporting (MNDUR) to the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS), the State RENAVEH Network, and the Strategic Health Surveillance Information Center (CIEVS) within 24 hours of case detection—especially deaths; * Conduct epidemiological investigations of diseases, deaths, events, and health conditions listed in current ordinances—suspected or confirmed, and of epidemiological relevance—detected in the hospital setting; * Provide guidance to clinical teams (physicians and nurses) on necessary precautionary measures for suspected and confirmed cases per established protocols; * Monitor laboratory test results for patients with suspected/diagnosed notifiable diseases and conditions sent to the hospital’s and affiliated laboratories; communicate results to the patient’s clinical team and recommend appropriate precautionary measures per guidelines; * Monitor and ensure proper execution of monitoring workflows for Live Birth Declarations (DNV) and Death Declarations (DO)—including documentation entry for form exchanges at the secretariat and correction controls; * Support educational programs by participating in and delivering training related to the service’s PAT (Prevention and Control Program); * Perform other related tasks as needed or at the discretion of the supervisor. **Requirements and Qualifications** **Requirements:** * Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; * Minimum 3 months of experience; * Postgraduate qualification in Epidemiological Surveillance or Public Health is desirable; * Active COREN registration; **Specific Knowledge:** * Microsoft Office suite; * Administrative regulations; * Assertive communication; * Labor legislation; * National Health Policy; * List of Mandatory Notifications; * SUS Disease Protocols; * Death Declaration; * Live Birth Declaration; * Notification Workflows; * Communication with external institutions and agencies; * Organization and planning; * Systems thinking and teamwork; * Institutional orientation; * Interdepartmental integration. **Additional Information** **Why join our team?** Wearing our uniform is more than a professional opportunity—it’s a chance to transform lives and contribute to a more dignified, efficient, and humane public healthcare system.
