Become a Sympler! **What will your day-to-day look like as our AI Manager?** * Directly lead an AI/ML engineering team, conducting 1:1s, individual development plans, performance evaluations, and hiring processes. * Define the company’s AI technical vision jointly with product, engineering, and executive leadership, maintaining a clear and prioritized roadmap. * Mentor engineers in both technical domains (modeling, architecture, coding) and career development. * Foster a culture of excellence: code reviews, design reviews, documentation, blameless postmortems, and continuous improvement. Architecture and delivery * Design production-ready AI system architectures considering scalability, latency, cost, observability, and security. * Define MLOps/LLMOps standards: model versioning, data and training pipelines, continuous deployment, drift monitoring, automated evaluation, and guardrails. * Make build-vs.-buy decisions among proprietary models, open-source models, and third-party APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.), justifying them based on cost, performance, and risk. * Ensure delivered solutions provide measurable value and reach production with quality—not merely as PoCs. Business vision and impact * Collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI delivers real competitive advantage. * Define product KPIs and model evaluation metrics aligned with business outcomes (revenue, retention, operational efficiency, NPS). * Present results, roadmaps, and trade-offs to executive leadership and customers in clear, value-oriented language. * Manage the AI budget: inference costs, infrastructure, tools, and hiring. Governance and responsibility * Ensure compliance with LGPD, information security, and responsible AI practices (bias, privacy, transparency, explainability). * Establish AI system risk assessment processes, especially for sensitive use cases. **What do you need to join our AI team?** * Strong software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years focused on production AI/ML. * Proven experience directly leading technical teams (not just tech lead roles without people management responsibilities). * Demonstrated track record of taking AI systems from prototyping to scaled production. * Solid proficiency in Python and the ML ecosystem (PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face). * Practical experience with LLMs and generative AI: fine-tuning, RAG, agents, function calling, prompt engineering, systematic evaluation. * Distributed software architecture: microservices, queues, streaming, APIs, event-driven patterns, caching, scalable design. * Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes). * MLOps: tools such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, Kubeflow, SageMaker, Vertex AI, or similar. * Sufficient data engineering knowledge to collaborate effectively with data engineers (SQL, pipelines, data warehouses, columnar formats). * Engineering best practices: automated testing, CI/CD, observability (logs, metrics, tracing), security. **It would be a great differentiator if you have:** * A graduate degree or published research in ML, NLP, computer vision, or related fields. * Experience with autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, or complex LLM orchestration. * Experience in regulated environments (finance, healthcare, legal). * Contributions to relevant open-source projects in this domain. * Prior experience building AI teams from scratch in startups or new business units. **Work model**: Hybrid in BH or SP **Sympla prioritizes diversity and plurality.** We believe a diverse team is essential for innovation and success.
