Join us. **Job Description** ------------------------ AECOM Brazil currently has an opening for a Biologist, Forestry Engineer, Agronomist, or professional in related fields in Belo Horizonte. **Primary Objective** Conduct technical analyses focused on quantifying forest carbon, with emphasis on forest data analysis and applied statistics for carbon quantification, as well as developing scenarios estimating emission reductions over time. **Key Responsibilities** * Possess technical expertise in forest inventories and above- and below-ground biomass measurement; * Apply allometric equations for converting biomass into carbon, accounting for floristic, ecological, and regional variations; * Perform statistical analyses of forest data to estimate carbon stocks and quantify avoided emissions; * Apply recognized methods for calculating avoided emissions in forestry projects; * Develop growth and carbon stock projection models over time; * Prepare emission reduction projections based on historical data and predictive modeling; * Integrate carbon stock and forest dynamics analyses into the design of carbon and forest conservation methodologies; * Support the development of forest conservation documents and methodologies. **Qualifications** ----------------- **Desired Educational Background** * Bachelor’s degree in Forestry Engineering, Biology, Agronomy, or related fields; * 10 YEARS or equivalent proven experience and/or education; * Postgraduate degree in forest mensuration, Applied Ecology, Carbon Modeling, or Statistics. **Desired Experience** * Practical experience in forest inventory and biomass measurement; * Practical experience in growth modeling and carbon stock simulations over time; * Experience participating in forest carbon projects, with focus on quantifying avoided emissions, is desirable. **Desired Competencies** * Strong knowledge of forest inventories and above- and below-ground biomass measurement; * Strong knowledge of applying allometric equations and converting biomass to carbon, accounting for forest, ecological, and geographic variations; * Ability to apply recognized methods for calculating avoided emissions (e.g., REDD and REDD+ methodology calculations); * Technical rigor and interdisciplinary collaboration; * Proficiency in tools such as Excel and the R programming language for data analysis; * GIS software knowledge (preferred). **Additional Information** -------------------------- **About AECOM** AECOM is the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, providing professional services throughout the project lifecycle—from advisory, planning, design, and engineering to program and construction management.
