Promote continuous improvement in process safety Where there is **growth**, Vale is. **OPERATIONAL RISK MANAGER** **– CORPORATE** **Want to learn more about this opportunity?** **CD Number (Available Position): CD 1094652** **Number of Positions:** 01 **Education:** Bachelor’s degree completed in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Naval Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mining and Energy Engineering, or related fields. **Location:** Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil **Working Hours:** Business hours **Contract Type:** Indefinite-term contract **Application Period:** March 04, 2026 to March 12, 2026 **Required Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s degree completed in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Naval Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mining and Energy Engineering, or related fields; * Solid experience in developing and maintaining operational risk management and process safety models; * Solid technical operational experience in related areas (operations, maintenance, Operational and Process Safety, among others); * Ability to influence definitions and decisions regarding Operational Risk Analysis Standards, aligned with industry best practices, and recognized as a technical reference in the field. **Desired Qualifications:** * Postgraduate degree and/or specialization in Process Safety strongly recommended; * In-depth knowledge of qualitative and quantitative process risk analysis methodologies; * Advanced English proficiency. **Responsibilities and Activities:** * Define global operational risk management and analysis policies, including processes, methodologies, and systems; * Develop and maintain corporate operational risk analysis standards and procedures, including methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), and Human Reliability Analysis; * Provide technical support to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors in defining the company’s risk tolerability criteria, based on industry best practices and international standards; * Manage the corporate HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis) program for identifying and analyzing Major Unwanted Events (MUEs); * Support the execution of operational risk analyses to aid decision-making in business and support areas; * Evaluate and propose operational risk treatment strategies; * Define standards and methodology for verification of critical controls (barrier audits); * Incorporate lessons learned from process safety incident investigations (accidents and near-misses) into standards and risk analyses, ensuring continuous improvement to prevent recurrence; * Maintain ongoing contact with operations and support teams to discuss operational risk dynamics within their businesses, as well as associated controls and risk treatment plans, providing assistance whenever required; * Develop and improve the infrastructure of available tools and systems to consolidate operational risk positions and information.
