Job Summary: Perform operational activities related to receiving, handling, sorting, storing, picking, and dispatching food items, ensuring quality, safety, and traceability throughout the logistics chain. Logistics Assistant Position Objective Perform operational activities related to receiving, handling, sorting, storing, picking, and dispatching food items, contributing to the efficient operation of the Food Bank's logistics chain, and ensuring the quality, safety, and traceability of products distributed to beneficiary institutions. Main Responsibilities 1\. Food Receiving * Assist in unloading food items received through donations and partnerships. * Verify received quantities according to technical team instructions. * Support identification and registration of received food items. * Immediately report any irregularities observed in products or packaging. 2\. Sorting and Selection * Sort food items according to criteria established by the Food Bank. * Separate products suitable for consumption from those requiring technical evaluation. * Support classification of food items by category, type, and storage conditions. * Ensure proper disposal of food items unfit for consumption, as directed by the responsible team. 3\. Storage and Organization * Organize food items in storage areas according to defined procedures. * Maintain cold rooms, stock areas, and warehouses clean and organized. * Assist in monitoring product expiration dates. * Follow principles of organization and stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out). * Ensure correct identification of stored products. 4\. Picking and Dispatch * Pick food items designated for beneficiary institutions. * Assist in assembling distribution loads and kits. * Support loading of transportation vehicles. * Verify picked items prior to dispatch. * Ensure food items are properly packed for transport. 5\. Material Handling * Manually handle boxes, pallets, and other materials. * Operate material handling equipment as trained. * Support organization of operational spaces. * Maintain equipment used in daily operations. 6\. Hygiene, Safety, and Quality * Strictly comply with hygiene and food safety procedures. * Correctly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Contribute to cleaning and maintenance of operational areas. * Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines outlined in the Good Practices Manual. * Report situations that may compromise food quality or safety. 7\. Support for Operational Activities * Assist in inventory counts and stock audits. * Support recording of operational information when requested. * Collaborate with technical teams, volunteers, and partners during receiving and distribution activities. * Participate in training and capacity-building sessions organized by the Food Bank. Desirable Requirements Education * Completed or ongoing high school education. Knowledge * Basic understanding of logistics and storage. * Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene. * Prior experience in inventory management, warehousing, logistics, or similar operations is desirable.
