Teamwork and good communication **Kitchen Assistant** **About the Position** The Carit, a retreat house located in Taquara (Rio de Janeiro), is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the chef in preparing and serving meals for guests. **Responsibilities** * Assist the chef in preparing breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner * Set up meals at buffet stations (rechaud) for guest service * Assist in ingredient pre-preparation and monitor cooking progress * Clean and organize the kitchen, utensils, and food preparation areas * Help verify food expiration dates and proper storage conditions * Support accommodation of guests’ specific dietary restrictions, as directed by the chef * Assist in setting up and organizing the dining area for meals **Requirements (Technical Skills)** * Completed elementary education * Prior kitchen experience is a plus * Basic knowledge of food handling and hygiene best practices * Willingness to learn large-volume cooking techniques (for events and retreats) **Behavioral Competencies** * Shared responsibility for food hygiene and preservation * Agility and organization, especially on days with higher guest volume * Team spirit and effective communication with the chef and other departments * Honesty and transparency in the workplace * Ability to remain calm under pressure during weekend retreats * Courtesy in occasional interactions with guests and retreat participants **Work Mode**: On-site **Location**: Taquara, Rio de Janeiro **Schedule**: Monday to Saturday.
