**Responsibilities and Duties**
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**

The Engine Room Sailor is responsible for:
1\) Performing general lubrication of main and auxiliary engines during watch duty (as part of the engine room watch team); carrying out oil, water, and sounding operations; keeping bilges pumped out; participating in maintenance, preservation, and painting activities aboard vessels with unattended (closed) engine rooms;
2\) Reporting any abnormality occurring in the engine room immediately to the Watch Officer of the Engine Department; departure from the engine room to attend to any other department is not permitted unless required by urgent necessity, which must be previously communicated to the Watch Officer;
3\) Immediately informing the Watch Officer of the Engine Department of any variation in pressure and temperature instrument readings, as well as alarm device indications that may affect the proper operation of machinery and equipment under their responsibility; and
4\) Verifying operational conditions—at least once per watch or per compartment—of systems located outside the engine room (e.g., air conditioning, refrigeration units, stern tube gland packing, steering gear, etc.), as directed by the Watch Officer.

* Completed High School education
* CIR (Registration and Enrollment Notebook);
\- STCW A\- III/4;
* EBCP;
* TBS;
\- NR Certifications \- If not yet held, we will provide them upon hiring. (NR\-6 / NR\-20 / NR\-33 / NR\-35)
* International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever;
* Valid passport;
