Job Summary:
Nursing intern to monitor and control infections, conduct active surveillance, support compliance assessments, and train healthcare professionals.

* Currently enrolled in a Nursing program from the 4th semester onward;
* Monitor implementation of the Infection Control Department's Action Plan to ensure planned activities are carried out as scheduled, aiming for systematic reduction in incidence and severity of HAIs (Healthcare-Associated Infections) within the Health Surveillance Unit;
* Conduct daily active surveillance of invasive devices in adult and neonatal intensive care units through visual inspection and documented active surveillance using designated forms, for subsequent preparation of the department's monthly HAI report;
* Conduct monthly active surveillance of surgical site infections (SSI) at Santa Bárbara Hospital by telephoning patients who underwent clean surgery (e.g., cesarean section) to investigate occurrence or non-occurrence of SSI;
* Report HAIs and/or isolation of multidrug-resistant organisms to other healthcare institutions whenever necessary, notifying and informing the patient's originating unit about the occurrence of HAIs and/or isolation of multidrug-resistant organisms identified in patient cultures, to determine the origin of isolated organisms and support local HAI control measures;
* Support compliance assessments of hand hygiene procedures using hygiene validation tools, and assist in recording and monitoring relevant indicators;
* Conduct hand hygiene audits by correctly completing standardized forms, and assist in recording and updating related indicators;
* Evaluate, advise, and train healthcare professionals, visitors, and companions—collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team—on hand hygiene practices, precautions, invasive techniques, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of health products, as well as environmental cleaning and disinfection in healthcare settings;
* Conduct epidemiological surveillance and submit notifications to competent authorities;
* Perform other duties related to the position.
