Job Summary: A Pastry Assistant provides direct support to the pastry chef by preparing doughs, fillings, and toppings; organizing and sanitizing utensils and equipment; ensuring operational functionality; and adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. Organization and agility The Pastry Assistant supports the pastry chef directly by preparing doughs, fillings, and toppings; weighing ingredients (mise en place); decorating cakes and desserts; and organizing and sanitizing kitchen utensils and equipment. They ensure operational functionality while complying with food safety and hygiene standards. Main Responsibilities: Mise en Place: Weighing and sorting ingredients prior to preparation. Base Production: Preparing doughs, creams, broths, and fillings. Assembly and Finishing: Assembling cakes and desserts, and decorating sweets. Sanitization and Organization: Regular cleaning of utensils, equipment, and work surfaces. Inventory Management: Checking product expiration dates and organizing pantry/freezer storage. Equipment Operation: Using mixers, ovens, and other machinery. Work Environment: Works in pastry shops, bakeries, catering services, restaurants, hotels, and food manufacturing industries. Desired Skills: Attention to detail (to follow technical recipes). Organization and agility. Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety. Teamwork. This role enables professionals to learn foundational pastry techniques for future advancement to Pastry Chef.
