About the position: A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon tackles business challenges through technology, owns their systems end-to-end, and influences the direction of our technology impacting hundreds of millions of customers globally. The Amazon IES LATECH \& GIS team is hiring software developers to work at our Software Development Center in Brazil. The IES LATECH \& GIS team builds new features for Amazon.com (http://amazon.com/) for different countries and develops systems to support Amazon’s operations. You will learn everything about designing, implementing, and testing highly scalable solutions using AWS’s cloud platform and its diverse suite of products, in agile and challenging projects, working alongside the best professionals in the field. Remember, “it’s always Day 1.” These groups are organized under the following initiatives: BEN \- Black Employee Network, Women@Amazon, Glamazon (LGBTQIA\+), and People with Disabilities. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** ------------------------ * Understand and evaluate critical end-to-end applications and assess high-level and low-level designs. * Actively contribute to the technical strategy of teams and be responsible for technical tradeoffs that may impact existing applications as well as other applications within Amazon. * 5\+ years of software development experience. * Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C\+\+, C\#, Java, Python, Golang, Kotlin, JavaScript, Clojure, or another OOP language. * Systems design and familiarity with application and database programming on UNIX/Linux. * Experience with Agile/Lean (Kanban, SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO modeling, Web Services, UNIX, and databases. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields. * Proven track record of developing large-scale solutions in ambiguous environments. * Knowledge of Software Development Life-Cycle models and experience delivering efficient software. * Customer-facing skills, including the ability to deeply understand requirements. * Recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts. * Proven history of delivering large, cross-functional projects. * Verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated analytical and design skills. * Experience mentoring and training the engineering community on complex technical topics.
