Responsible for supervising, coordinating, and managing nursing activities in the Surgical Center and the Central Material and Sterilization Department, ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of services provided, as well as compliance with biosafety standards, clinical protocols, and internal regulations. * **Surgical Center (SC) Supervision:** * Coordinate and supervise nursing activities in the surgical center, ensuring all ophthalmological procedures are performed safely and efficiently. * Organize nursing staff work schedules and ensure all equipment, materials, and medications are available and properly prepared for each surgery. * Implement and monitor patient safety protocols, including surgical site and patient identification verification, ambient temperature control, and sterility assurance. * Ensure the surgical environment is organized and clean, adhering strictly to biosafety standards. * Conduct preoperative surgical briefings (planning the day before surgery) to ensure appropriate staffing allocation and material availability, thereby guaranteeing patient safety and smooth surgical workflow. * Participate in patient registry management, performing registration, data updates, and necessary documentation for the ocular tissue bank, in compliance with the National Transplant System. **Central Material and Sterilization Department (CMSS) Management:** * Supervise sterilization processes for surgical instruments and other equipment, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. * Monitor inventory levels of materials and supplies, placing replenishment orders as needed and avoiding waste. * Ensure all cleaning, organization, and storage procedures for materials comply with hospital hygiene and safety guidelines. * Conduct periodic inventories of all surgical instruments across the institution according to a pre\-established schedule, verifying both quantitative and qualitative (functionality and integrity) aspects to ensure patient safety and care efficiency. * Optimize logistics for surgical materials and instruments, maintaining safety stock levels and operational efficiency to prevent shortages and surgical delays. **Committee Participation:** * **Patient Safety Standards Committee (PSSC):** Actively participate in reviewing and implementing safety protocols to protect patients during surgical procedures, collaborating on strategies to prevent medical errors and complications. * **Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC):** Collaborate with the committee to identify infection risks, develop prevention plans, and monitor compliance with infection control practices—particularly within the surgical environment and the Sterilization Center. * **Medical Records Committee:** Assist in reviewing patient medical records to ensure all surgical and nursing documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with legal and institutional requirements. * **Billing Audit Committee:** Participate in cost analysis and billing audits, reviewing processes related to material and service usage in the Surgical Center and CMSS, ensuring compliance with hospital financial and ethical standards. * **Training and Development Committee (TDC):** Contribute to developing and implementing training programs for the nursing team, including competency enhancement in patient safety, surgical techniques, and biosafety standards. **People Management and Team Development:** * Supervise, train, and support the nursing team, fostering an efficient, collaborative, and high-quality work environment. * Conduct periodic performance evaluations of staff and identify training needs. * Implement and monitor action plans to continuously improve the quality of care delivered and the efficiency of processes in the Surgical Center and CMSS. * Conduct technical qualification of staff based on identified competence gaps. **Administrative and Logistics Management:** * Control and organize materials and equipment used in the Surgical Center and CMSS, ensuring all tools are in proper working condition. * Monitor and record material and medication usage to ensure compliance with hospital and financial regulations. * Attend periodic meetings to discuss and align committee actions and initiatives with other hospital departments. **Safety and Quality:** * Ensure all nursing practices, sterilization procedures, and surgical interventions comply with hospital-established guidelines, with emphasis on patient quality and safety. * Monitor and regularly review internal protocols to pursue continuous improvement in patient care and complication prevention.
