Laboratory Technician

Description

**Job Objective:** Ensure the quality of iron ore or other mineral samples through proper preparation and execution of physical and chemical tests, providing accurate data for the production process. **Receiving and Preparation:** Receive, identify, organize, homogenize, and quarter mineral samples. Sample Processing: Perform crushing (primary/secondary) and pulverization of samples. Possess knowledge of mineral beneficiation. Prepare samples and standards for chemical, physical, metallurgical, microstructural, and other tests, including identification and documentation thereof. Conduct, under technical guidance, physical, metallurgical, microstructural, mineral beneficiation, granulometric, and spectrometric tests, analyzing results using appropriate technical knowledge due to the diversity of test types and procedures. Operate pilot plant and quality control facilities. Promote electromagnetic separation of pre-concentrates. Assist in stockpile formation and recovery of ore piles by monitoring moisture content indices. Operate equipment such as crushers, mills, sieves, furnaces, splitters, balances, overhead cranes, etc. Maintain records, prepare reports, and assist in control activities. Evaluate and disseminate analytical results. Complete internal laboratory controls, such as shift reports, control charts, equipment availability, etc. Maintain, clean, and organize the laboratory. Verify and calibrate laboratory equipment. Calculate, analyze, and validate results. Drive vehicles for sample collection and transportation. Activities requiring significant physical exertion. Need to reach elevated workbenches. Work in plant and crushing areas, involving lifting of loads. Working environment with natural ventilation but no air conditioning. Handling materials on conveyor belts during a specific process stage. Performing sampling and sample collection activities for process and/or products. Disposing of materials in accordance with operational procedures. Handling and replacing filters. Using trays when empty
