POSITION – CNC Lathe Operator II The CNC lathe operator is responsible for planning manufacturing stages and machining processes on CNC lathes. Ø Job Responsibilities: Operate CNC lathes; machine parts; sharpen cutting tools using a grinding wheel to maintain optimal working condition; perform CNC machining of ferrous and non-ferrous material parts. Prepare, adjust, and modify programs as needed to correct deficiencies and failures. Feed raw materials into the machine; interpret manufacturing orders and technical drawings; use measuring instruments. Inspect raw materials to verify material type and conduct visual and dimensional inspection using measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications; verify dimensions using tape measure, caliper, and square; create simple and complex programs using software and machine control panel commands; operate medium-sized CNC lathes while visually monitoring the machining process to produce parts per requirements. Mount workpieces on the machine using appropriate fixtures, aligning and centering them with the aid of dial indicators, probes, or other required instruments; set machine and workpiece zero points via the control panel to serve as reference points for machining operations; check coolant, oil, lubricating oil, air pressure, and air conditioning levels via machine sight glasses; if levels fall below the minimum, replenish the deficient material to ensure proper machine operation.
