Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a senior, hands-on technical leader to guide the modernization of a laboratory management SaaS platform, re-architecting it into a cloud-native web platform on Azure while leading a high-performance team.
Key Highlights:
1. Senior technical leader, 100% hands-on
2. Modernization of legacy SaaS to cloud-native on Azure
3. Building and developing a team of 8–9 people
WMI develops a market-leading **laboratory management SaaS** in Brazil. We are embarking on a **modernization journey**: migrating Autolac — a legacy product built in **Delphi**, currently hosted in an on-premises **data center with VMs** — to a modern, **multi-tenant, cloud-native web platform on Azure**, featuring **elastic scalability** and **cost efficiency**.
We seek a **senior technical leader, 100% hands-on**, to **guide architecture, technical decisions, and execution**, build a high-performance team (8–9 people), and **lead by example**.
**Role Mission**
Lead the **incremental re-architecture and re-implementation** of Autolac, ensuring **seamless coexistence** between the legacy application (Delphi) and the new web application (unified, non-disruptive user experience), adopting **modern engineering practices** (DevOps, “you build it, you run it”), **end-to-end quality** (ATDD/BDD, automated testing), and **effective use of AI/code generation** to accelerate delivery — without compromising quality or security.
**Key Responsibilities**
* **Strategic Architecture**
o Define the target **cloud-native architecture on Azure** (multi-tenant, Linux containers, serverless, storage/DB, networking, security, observability, cost).
o Plan the **incremental migration** (strangler pattern, BFF/adapters, feature flags), preserving UX and short-term compatibility with Delphi.
o Establish **design standards** (decoupling, modularity, stable contracts) and engineering guidelines.
* **Hands-on Delivery**
o Code daily: **APIs, integrations, pipelines, IaC**, and critical frontend/backend components.
o Build **coexistence layers** (proxy/BFF, adapters) to integrate legacy and new systems without disruption to customers.
o Implement **CI/CD** (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions), **IaC** (Bicep/Terraform), **GitOps**, and **observability** (logs, metrics, traces, alerts).
* **Quality, Security & Operations**
o Ensure **ATDD/BDD**, **unit/integration/e2e tests**, code reviews, and **quality gates** in pipelines.
o Implement **authentication/authorization** (e.g., **Azure AD/Entra ID**), **data protection**, and **security-by-default** practices.
o Operate with a **DevOps/SRE mindset** (“you build it, you run it”): SLI/SLO, runbooks, post-mortems, cost/FinOps, and **scale-to-zero** where applicable.
* **Technical Leadership & Team Development**
o **Build and develop** a team of 8–9 people; mentor, coach, and elevate technical capability.
o Facilitate **agile ceremonies**, align with Product/UX/Business, and **communicate clearly** about risks, trade-offs, and the technical roadmap.
**Requirements (Mandatory)**
* **10+ years** in software engineering with proven experience in **legacy system modernization** and delivery of **cloud-native web applications** in **enterprise/mission-critical** contexts.
* Solid hands-on experience in **architecture, design, and implementation** of **multi-tenant solutions on Azure** (Linux containers, managed services, serverless components).
* Real-world experience in **operations**: production troubleshooting, **safe releases**, **CI/CD**, **observability** (logging, monitoring, alerting), **IaC**, and **GitOps**.
* **DevOps mindset** (“you build it, you run it”) and **healthy engineering practices**: clean design, decoupling, clear abstractions, **code review**, **automated testing** (ATDD/BDD, unit, integration), **quality gates**.
* **Authentication, data protection, and security** applied to web systems (including multi-tenant).
* Practical experience with **AI for software engineering** and **agentic code generation** (e.g., Copilot/Cursor/Claude/etc.) to accelerate migrations without compromising quality.
* **Agile/Incremental**: ability to deliver in slices, using feature flags and zero-downtime deployments whenever possible.
* **Target stack (flexible)**: strong experience in **C#/NET**, or equivalent language (Java/Node/etc.), and a **modern frontend framework** (Angular/React/Vue). Ability to **quickly learn and adopt** the preferred stack.
* Fluent **Portuguese**. Basic **English** is a plus.
**Nice-to-Haves**
* Advanced **Azure** expertise (Containers/Container Apps/Kubernetes, Functions, Azure SQL/Serverless, Storage, Service Bus/Event Grid, API Management).
* **Active Directory / Entra ID**, SSO, and RBAC.
* **Migration patterns** (strangler fig, BFF, anti-corruption layer), **legacy-web coexistence**, and **secure data migration**.
* **CQRS/Event-driven** architectures, caching/distribution, performance tuning, and **resilience** (circuit breaker, retries, idempotency).
* **SRE/FinOps**: SLI/SLO, error budget, cost per tenant/module, **scale-to-zero**.
* Experience in **healthcare/laboratories**, and/or compliance (e.g., LGPD).
**Soft Skills**
* **Technical excellence** with an **action-oriented mindset**; ownership mentality and **autonomy**.
* **Clear communication** and collaboration with Product/UX/Business.
* **Attention to detail** and unwavering commitment to **quality**.
* **Mentoring and coaching** of high-performance teams.
* **Continuous learning** and openness to new techniques (including AI).
**Why Join WMI?**
You will **define and deliver** the next generation of an essential product for Brazil’s laboratory ecosystem, **leading the technical transformation** with **autonomy**, **direct business impact**, and **modern standards** (DevOps, cloud-native, applied AI). This is a role for those who want to **build**, architect, code, operate, and **develop people** — all at once.
