Robotics Coordinator/Researcher — Dexterous Manipulation (Dexterous Hand), VLA & Omniverse
If you're passionate about technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence—and want to build solutions that bridge cutting-edge academic research with product development impacting thousands of people—this role is for you!
We’re seeking someone who combines cutting-edge robotics R&D with real-world deployment: capable of designing, integrating, and operating a robotic manipulation stack—including hands and arms—with perception (2D/3D), planning, control, safety, and simulation in NVIDIA Omniverse/Isaac Sim, deployed on edge devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson).
**Responsibilities and Duties**
* Design, implement, and validate manipulation capabilities (grasping, regrasping, in-hand manipulation, tool use) with emphasis on robustness and real-world operation, using Isaac Sim/Omniverse where applicable, and conduct sim2real (calibration, retargeting, system ID).
* Integrate modules of the robotic manipulation stack: 2D/3D perception, sensor fusion (RGB-D/stereo, F/T, tactile), pose estimation, and interfaces with planning/control in ROS 2. Collaborate on integration of ML/AI-based components (including VLA) when relevant to the product.
* Develop the data engine: teleoperation pipelines, data acquisition and synchronization (RGB-D/stereo, F/T, tactile), including curation, versioning, and reproducibility; ensure data quality for debugging and continuous improvement of the robotic system.
* Implement planning and control (kinematics/dynamics, impedance/MPC control, MoveIt 2/OMPL), including integration with drivers/hardware, state/fault handling, and functional safety (e-stop, safe zones, fallback).
* Deploy on edge (e.g., Jetson Orin): packaging, observability, latency/throughput/energy measurement, resilience, and monitoring. Inference optimization (TensorRT/ONNX) is desirable.
* Document (reports, whitepapers) and, where applicable, support submissions (CoRL, ICRA, IROS, RSS) in partnership with ICTs.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients in Brazil, translating business requirements into technical deliverables.
**Requirements and Qualifications**
Practical experience in dexterous/complex robotic manipulation with end-to-end delivery: integration of perception, planning, and control; bring-up, debugging, and validation on bench and in cell environments.
* ROS 2 (Humble/Iron), MoveIt 2, Python and C++ (nodes/launch files, drivers, tests, bindings), with experience in hardware integration and instrumentation for diagnostics.
* Experience with Omniverse/Isaac Sim (USD, Replicator, OmniGraph) for simulation, *dataset synthesis*, domain randomization, and other simulation tools.
* Practical knowledge of tactile/force sensing (F/T, tactile) and contact control (impedance, force control), including signal calibration, filtering, and diagnostic capability.
**Academic Background:**
* Bachelor’s degree completed in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Experience with Shadow/Allegro or alternatives (advanced hand/gripper robots available in Brazil), *eye-in-hand* setups, RGB-D/stereo cameras.
* Imitation learning and/or RL (BC/DAgger/off-policy/on-policy), with reproducible results.
* Experience with commercially available cobots (UR, Yaskawa, ABB, KUKA, Doosan) and safety-compliant cells (ISO 10218/TS 15066).
* Experience integrating ML/AI models into the robotic stack (including VLA/VLM where applicable).
* Publications/patents (CoRL, ICRA, IROS, CVPR) or awards from challenges.
* PhD in Robotics/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related fields (applied research in manipulation).
**Languages:**
* Fluent Portuguese and advanced English (for reading papers, technical meetings, and writing).
