As a **Senior Data Scientist** at Mercado Livre, you will design and scale innovative and secure systems that solve real-world, high-impact problems. You will work in a dynamic environment leveraging cutting-edge technology, engineering best practices, proprietary AI models, and continuous learning—all aimed at democratizing e-commerce and financial services across Latin America.
Imagine yourself leading challenging, dynamic, and innovative projects and **being responsible for:**
* Implementing coding best practices for model development and deployment, including object-oriented programming.
* Presenting and explaining your results by effectively tailoring your message to different levels within the company (Analysts, Leaders, or Managers/Experts).
* Translating business/operational problems into technical terms and proposing customized solutions primarily based on statistics/machine learning for time series—capable of designing scalable solutions, estimating development effort for tasks, defining priorities, and proactively making decisions during development.
* Monitoring, maintaining, and evolving forecasting models for shipping equipment consumption, identifying opportunities for improvement in those models.
* Collaborating throughout the team’s development lifecycle, serving as a technical reference and supporting the team’s technical scoping and unblocking. Summarizing ideas, learnings, and best practices to transfer knowledge to peers or other areas of MELI.
**What we’re looking for in you?**
* Experience in Statistics and Machine Learning—including statistical knowledge, time series analysis, and application of machine learning and probabilistic models.
* Understanding of how major time series and machine learning algorithms work—including awareness of the bias-variance trade-off and how hyperparameters influence it.
* Experience with Git—able to review PRs and comment efficiently. Proficiency in SQL and advanced Python programming, including object-oriented programming, rebase, cherry-pick, diff, reset, and fetch.
* Ability in Configuration and Monitoring—knowing how to configure, monitor, and maintain data pipelines, including creating DAGs for workflow management.
* Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD, cloud tools (AWS or Google Cloud), and Spanish.
