**Responsibilities and Duties** **Key Activities to Perform:**
**Testing**
* Plan and conduct corrosion testing in laboratory and field environments;
* Perform accelerated performance testing of materials and coatings;
* Conduct electrochemical and physicochemical tests;
* Evaluate corrosion resistance of critical components.
**Material Characterization**
* Perform microscopic and chemical analyses;
* Correlate material properties with in-service performance;
* Identify material degradation and structural changes.
**Corrosivity and Service Life Studies**
* Classify environmental aggressiveness;
* Estimate corrosion rate and remaining service life;
* Simulate severe operating conditions.
**Field Activities**
* Carry out technical inspections and sample collection;
* Assess real-world operating conditions;
* Support maintenance decision-making.
**Client and Project Interface**
* Participate in R\&D projects and technological service delivery;
* Support material and equipment qualification.
**Requirements and Qualifications** **Qualification:**
* Technical degree in Chemistry;
**Mandatory Knowledge:**
* Experience in laboratory testing activities related to materials;
* Fundamentals of corrosion: Corrosion mechanisms, thermodynamics and kinetics of corrosive processes, and material-environment interaction;
* Corrosion evaluation techniques: Electrochemical tests, accelerated corrosion tests, and mass loss tests;
* Material characterization: Microscopy and chemical analyses;
* Anticorrosive coatings: Industrial painting systems, specification criteria, and anticorrosive performance testing;
* Failure analysis: Diagnosis of corrosion-induced degradation, identification of mechanisms (mass loss, corrosion products, deposits);
* Technical standards: ISO, ASTM, ABNT standards applicable to corrosion and materials, and sector-specific standards for the electric power industry (Eletrobras, IEC).
**Desirable Knowledge:**
* Predictive models for service life and environmental corrosivity;
* Monitoring and instrumentation: Corrosion sensors (potential, corrosion rate);
* Online asset monitoring systems: Corrosion in specific systems; Applied microbiology in corrosion;
* Identification of corrosion-causing microorganisms;
* Proprietary corrosion evaluation methodologies;
* Diagnostic and inspection tools.
