Job Summary: The professional will perform tasks as instructed, assist the duty officer, carry out maintenance and cleaning activities, and contribute to marine pollution prevention. Key Highlights: 1. Carry out lubrication, maintenance, and cleaning tasks for equipment. 2. Contribute to the prevention of marine environmental pollution. 3. Keep equipment in good operating condition and well organized. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Comply with the “Chief Engineer’s Standing Orders”; * Perform tasks as instructed by the Duty Officer in the Engine Room; * Assist during watchkeeping duties; * During watchkeeping or when directed by a superior, perform lubrication, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment and tools; conduct tank soundings; assist the Duty Officer in verifying the operational conditions of equipment located outside the Engine Room (e.g., air conditioning units, refrigerated chambers, etc.); * Participate in cleaning, treatment, and painting operations in the Engine Room; * Perform general duties in the Engine Room and other vessel compartments as assigned by a superior; * Report to the Duty Officer in the Engine Room any irregularities observed in pressure and temperature instrument readings, alarm indications, etc.; * Assist in bunkering and related maneuvers; * Participate in tank cleaning operations when requested by the First Mate and/or Chief Engineer, provided prior training for such tasks has been completed; * Contribute to the handling and stowage of supplies in the Engine Room and other locations as requested; * Take precautions and contribute to the prevention of marine environmental pollution; * Maintain facilities, equipment, and tools assigned to them in good operating condition, well organized, and clean; * Verify that your “Seafarer’s Medical Certificate” is valid and ensure its renewal is carried out before expiration; * Participate in integrated operations; * When participating in integrated operations on deck under the responsibility of the First Mate, report directly to him; * Work carefully and technically, using the required PPE to safely perform assigned duties and ensuring other involved personnel also use it; * Be familiar with your role and all others described in the vessel’s Emergency Operations Master Table; * Familiarize yourself with the location and operation of the vessel’s safety and lifesaving equipment; * Participate in risk assessments prior to activities.
