Painting Quality Control and Safety Lead and coordinate the painting team—including painters, surface preparers, and assistants—plan activities, assign tasks, supervise surface preparation and paint/coating application, ensure finishing quality, adherence to deadlines, and compliance with safety regulations. * **Team Leadership and Management:** Assign tasks, provide guidance, train, and supervise painters; evaluate their performance and foster a collaborative and productive work environment. * **Work Planning and Organization:** Interpret work orders, project drawings, and technical specifications to define the sequence of painting activities, required materials, and execution deadlines. * **Surface Preparation Supervision:** Monitor and guide the team in proper surface preparation (cleaning, sanding, application of fillers and primers) to ensure paint adhesion and finishing quality. * **Paint and Coating Application Supervision:** Guide and supervise the application of paints, varnishes, enamels, and other coatings, ensuring correct application techniques, color uniformity, and finishing quality. * **Quality Control:** Inspect painted surfaces to verify paint film thickness, color uniformity, absence of defects (runs, bubbles, etc.), and compliance with project specifications. * **Paint Mixing and Preparation:** Guide or perform correct paint mixing according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements. * **Problem Solving:** Diagnose and resolve painting-related issues, such as material incompatibility, application flaws, or adhesion problems. * **Process Optimization:** Identify opportunities to improve painting processes to increase efficiency, reduce material waste, and enhance quality. * **Materials and Equipment Management:** Monitor and maintain paints, solvents, brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other equipment; request replenishment when necessary and ensure proper maintenance. * **Technical Specifications Interpretation:** Read and interpret technical specifications for paints and coatings, as well as painting standards and procedures. * **Safety Oversight:** Ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations, instructing the team on correct use of PPE (masks, gloves, goggles, etc.) and accident prevention. * **Report Preparation:** Prepare reports on work progress, material consumption, and other relevant information for painting department management. * Pay attention to project start and completion dates, * Report equipment failures, e.g., compressors, sanders, rock drills, dust extractors, * Correct colors that have been changed (UPDATES), * Report non-conforming projects, * Conduct team meetings, * Technical drawing interpretation, * Knowledge of paints and their applications.
