Culture that values technical maturity and investigative autonomy We are looking for a Mid-level Backend Developer specializing in PHP and Laravel to join the technology team of a rapidly expanding Online English Education Institution. This is a role for professionals with technical maturity and autonomy. We seek someone who does not merely execute tasks but understands business logic, navigates legacy systems confidently, and actively contributes to the evolution of our educational architecture. You will find a dynamic environment where investigative curiosity is essential for mapping processes and implementing performance and security improvements. Responsibilities and Duties 1\. Development and Maintenance (Hands-on) Develop and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs using PHP v8.4+ and Laravel v10+. Implement and manage critical integrations, including Payment Gateways and OAuth2 authentication (Laravel Passport). Work with real-time communication via WebSockets (Pusher) for student status and payment updates. Ensure code quality through best practices and automated test coverage using PHPUnit. 2\. Ecosystem Support and Evolution **Legacy Challenge:** Work on systems with minimal initial documentation, performing reverse engineering on code to understand business rules and assist in creating technical documentation. Monitor and optimize MySQL database performance, address slow queries, and ensure data integrity. Perform necessary technical interventions in databases or contract generation while collaborating on automation of these processes. 3\. Collaboration and Processes Actively participate in agile ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups), reporting progress and flagging blockers. Collaborate with the Front-end team to integrate complex interfaces (Student Portal and Checkout). Maintain organized workflow in ClickUp, ensuring timely and well-documented deliveries. Technical Requirements (Hard Skills) Candidates must have solid experience with the institution’s technology stack: **Backend:** Proficiency in PHP 8+ and the Laravel framework (Service Container, Eloquent, Jobs/Queues, Middlewares). **Database:** Strong knowledge of MySQL (data modeling, indexing, optimization). **API:** Advanced experience consuming and building RESTful APIs. **Infrastructure/Tools:** Git/GitHub (GitFlow and Pull Requests), Composer, NPM, and Linux environment. **Testing:** Experience with unit and integration testing. **Nice-to-Have:** Basic understanding of Vue.js 2.x or React Native (for better Front-end collaboration). Prior experience in EdTech or E-commerce. Knowledge of Docker.
