Since 1993, we have developed numerous programs committed to improving Brazil’s public education system. Itaú Social’s focus is to contribute through actions and programs that influence emancipatory public policies and enable structural changes in education. Our work is guided by four strategic pillars: * Strengthening the capacity of state and municipal education networks to design and implement policies focused on the final years of elementary education (grades 6–9). * Promoting a national policy for the final years of elementary education that encourages coordinated action by states and municipalities, supported by legal frameworks, regulations, programs, and budgetary resources aimed at reducing inequalities. * Developing a reference model for public schools focused on the final years of elementary education that promotes holistic development and engages with diverse local realities. * Improving pedagogical practices in public preschools. To achieve this, deepen research on pedagogical practices, coordinate networks, and draw upon learnings accumulated from previous programs, such as “Read with a Child.” In 2019, Itaú Social became part of the Itaú Foundation — alongside **Itaú Cultural and Itaú Education and Work** — reinforcing its commitment to reducing inequalities and improving Brazil’s public education system.
