




**Job Description** **This position is for on-site work in Contagem, MG.** **Who will you be working with?** The Systems Optimization team consists of a depth and breadth of Senior Engineers often considered the thought leaders for the business when it pertains to New Technology or New Product Introductions. As such this team interfaces with the Commercial Team, Proposals Engineering, Reliability COE, P\&L leaders, as well as just about every facet of FE\&S Engineering. **How will you make a difference?** The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the system architecture in vehicle (locomotive or mining) propulsion systems including the application of varied energy storage solutions. The engineer will establish multi\-generation technology plans for these propulsion systems to meet increasing demands for greater system efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The engineer should have demonstrated expertise in application of battery technologies including experience with varied battery cell chemistries, control systems and related power system equipment. **What do we want to know about you?** * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. * Strong hands\-on experience in a design environment. * Advanced/Fluent English. * Experience in heavy duty mobile applications demonstrating ability to develop propulsion or energy storage systems. * Proven track record of effective team work and delivering results over multiple business cycles. * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. * Comfortable working autonomously and making decisions with minimal guidance. * Thrives in dynamic environments and consistently drives projects forward independently. **What will your typical day look like?** * Serve as a recognized leader in the application of propulsion systems and battery application for locomotive designs * Anticipate, develop, and apply technologies to current and future locomotive products to promote competitive differentiation * Predict behavior of systems through the creation and utilization of analytical models to optimize the overall architecture and anticipate system interactions * Collaborate with Product Management to define customer requirements * Architect propulsion and battery system designs that meet or exceed customer expectations * Conduct formal trade studies between contending concepts * Ensure viability and defend recommendations in design reviews * Decompose customer requirements and provide clear definition for subsystem consumption * Define and control interfaces between subsystems * Author and manage system design documentation (review material, System Functional Specification, Interface Control Document, etc.) * Provide systems engineering leadership and technical guidance to teams working assigned projects * Conduct optimization studies on performance, total life\-cycle cost and reliability * Lead system level FMEA’s and system safety analyses * Protect the intellectual property rights of the company **Benefits** * Medical assistance extendable to dependents (spouse and children). * Dental assistance extendable to dependents (spouse and children). * Profit-sharing and results-based bonus program. * Private pension plan. * Meal allowance policy according to location. * Parking allowance or transportation voucher. * Life insurance. * Employee Assistance Program: psychological, legal, financial, and social assistance. * Headspace – mental health-focused mobile application. * Christmas card or gift basket for employees, according to location. * Christmas gift for children up to 11 years of age. * Extended maternity leave. * Pregnancy and newborn program. * Language learning incentive program. * Mentoring programs and access to training platform. * Wellhub. * Pharmacy allowance. **Additional Information** **What could you achieve in an environment that truly puts People First?** At Wabtec, it’s not just about a job — it’s about the impact you create.
