Generally, the Kitchen Assistant works under the supervision of a cook or head chef, ensuring that everything is prepared and ready on time for dish preparation. Main responsibilities include: * **Food Preparation**: Assist in ingredient pre-preparation (washing, cutting, peeling, chopping), organizing them for use by cooks in recipes. * **Cleaning and Organization**: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, washing utensils, pots, plates, and ensuring hygiene of countertops and work surfaces. * **Support to Cooks**: Assist cooks in plating dishes, handling last-minute requests, and monitoring food quality control. * **Ingredient Storage**: Assist in proper ingredient storage, checking product expiration dates and keeping inventory organized. * **Waste Disposal**: Manage proper separation and disposal of waste, adhering to hygiene and food safety regulations. * **Equipment Monitoring**: Assist in basic kitchen equipment maintenance, ensuring they remain fully operational.
