Responsibilities and Duties
Analyze and manage legal proceedings, with support from other attorneys, to execute procedures under one’s responsibility;
Perform internal routines—including deadline scheduling, correspondent engagement, and filing—to prevent missed deadlines;
Attend less complex hearings, ensuring adequate understanding to contribute positively during such hearings;
Prepare calendars for deadlines and hearings according to established standards and routines within the department, to meet procedural demands;
**Carry out procedural tasks such as:** drafting legal submissions, filing appeals, requesting payments, and recording hearing minutes, to meet procedural demands;
Attend hearings to which one is assigned, following the weekly hearing calendar sent to the NJ, to fulfill the court-assigned hearing schedule;
Guide interns in their duties when necessary, contributing to their professional development without negatively impacting ongoing activities;
Conduct filings and attend hearings before judicial authorities to defend clients’ interests;
Monitor official publications and procedural deadlines via electronic systems to ensure timely compliance;
Draft and review procedural documents and legal opinions through careful writing, to promote high-quality procedural progress;
Analyze cases through meticulous reading and study to identify key and critical points;
Perform duties in accordance with the conduct and ethical standards required by the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) regulations and by the firm’s internal policies.
**Requirements:**
Law degree with active registration at the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB);
Computer literacy (word processors; case law research tools; navigating and understanding the operations of various courts’ websites);
Prior experience in legal practice or advisory roles is desirable.
