The Welding Inspector is the professional responsible for ensuring the quality, compliance, and safety of welds performed on metallic structures, pipelines, equipment, or industrial systems. They perform visual inspections and technical testing (NDT) on welded joints, verifying that procedures comply with technical standards, applicable codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, NBR), and project specifications. **Key responsibilities:** * Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds, identifying defects such as cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, among others. * Interpret and apply national and international welding standards. * Monitor and validate Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS/PQR) and welder qualifications. * Issue technical inspection reports and non-conformance reports. * Supervise and control Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods, including radiography, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, among others. * Ensure that materials and equipment used meet technical specifications. * Collaborate with engineers, welders, and quality technicians to guarantee structural integrity. **Requirements:** * Technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related fields (preferred). * Certification as a Welding Inspector (e.g., FBTS, ABENDI, AWS CWI). * Knowledge of reading and interpreting technical drawings. * Experience with standards such as ASME IX, API 1104, AWS D1\.1, and applicable NBRs. * Proficiency in report writing and technical documentation control.
