Description: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering; * Postgraduate degree in Occupational Safety Engineering; * Solid experience in underground mining; * Proficiency in Regulatory Standards of Ordinance 3.214/78 (NRs applicable to underground mining), labor legislation, social security regulations, and fire department standards; Desirable: * Proven experience in developing and managing programs: PGR, PCMSO, PPRA, PPP, LTCAT, among others; * Experience in accident and incident investigation and analysis, applying root cause identification methodologies (e.g., fault tree analysis, 5 whys); * Participation in internal and external audits, as well as certification processes (e.g., OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001 and integration with Environmental Management); * Preparation of technical reports on ergonomics, hazardous working conditions, and dangerous activities; * Knowledge of risk assessment and safe behavior methodologies, applying prevention tools and continuous improvement techniques; * Familiarity with Power BI; * Advanced English and/or Spanish. * Act as the OHS technical manager for Atlantic Nickel at the underground mine, focusing on governance, supervision, and verification of compliance by the contractor and its subcontractors, ensuring safety in underground environments and adherence to legal/contractual requirements. GOVERNANCE AND SUPERVISION OF THE CONTRACTOR * Demand, review, approve, and supervise implementation of the contractor’s PGR (including PGR, NRs and related documents), ensuring effectiveness in underground operations; * Conduct periodic audits of the contractor (planning, checklists, and reports), document non-conformities, agree on action plans, and verify corrective effectiveness; * Validate the contractor’s competency matrix, certifications, and mandatory training; * Supervise the contractor’s PPE management (specification, supply, use, maintenance, and traceability) and engineering controls (EPC); * Review and approve the contractor’s operational and emergency procedures, ensuring legal compliance, alignment with Atlantic Nickel’s procedures, and fulfillment of contractual requirements; * Manage contractor performance indicators (e.g., TRIFR, severity rate, critical deviations, audit plan completion, training compliance) and conduct regular performance meetings; * Lead/validate investigations of contractor incidents/accidents (using recognized methodologies), issue reports and recommendations, and monitor corrective actions; * Serve as the technical interface between client and contractor on OHS matters. UNDERGROUND RISK MANAGEMENT * Conduct routine inspections underground (rounds at development fronts, mining areas, workshops, infrastructure zones, and emergency routes); * Manage and conduct routine checks on ventilation and air quality: ventilation plans, airflow rates, gas control (diesel, explosives), dust (silica), temperature/humidity; * Provide technical support in change management planning; * Monitor rock mass stability and structural supports; * Supervise underground traffic management, developing and reinforcing circulation rules; * Critically review: work permits (PTE), Risk Assessments (APR/JSA), LOTO, hot work, lifting operations, confined spaces, electrical work, chemical handling, and explosives/detonation procedures; * Specify minimum EPC requirements for underground operations (signage, barriers, gas detection, emergency showers/eyewash stations, fans/ducts, refuge chambers, communication systems). EMERGENCY RESPONSE * Design and supervise the underground fire prevention, firefighting, and emergency response system (PAE, escape routes, emergency pathways, assembly points, refuge chambers, communication); * Form/train and validate emergency brigades from both company and contractor personnel (including underground drills), integrating them with the client’s Emergency Plan; * Ensure readiness of response resources: rescue equipment, respirators, first aid kits, emergency vehicles, and response times. LEGAL AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE * Ensure compliance with applicable Regulatory Standards from Ordinance 3214 (especially NR-22) and other legal requirements applicable to underground mining; * Interact with government agencies (MTE, ANM, fire department, military, etc.), manage client licenses/authorizations, and require contractor compliance; * Participate in CIPAMIN (meetings, inspections, programs), promoting corrective and preventive actions. TRAINING AND SAFETY CULTURE * Develop and deliver critical OHS training (including contractor onboarding, underground campaigns, and internal policies); * Promote a strong safety culture, enhancing the maturity level of both direct and contractor teams. DOCUMENTATION, INDICATORS AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT * Prepare technical reports on ergonomics, hazardous conditions, and dangerous activities applicable to underground environments; * Issue weekly, monthly, and annual OHS reports (trends, KPIs, root cause analyses, action effectiveness) and recommend continuous improvements; * Maintain and enforce an OHS Management System aligned with ISO 45001. 2511130202461793028
