




Job Summary: Hospital-based Speech-Language Pathologist to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, conducting assessment and therapeutic intervention for hospitalized patients, with a focus on dysphagia, language, and rehabilitation. Application of speech-language pathology procedures and rehabilitation in the ICU. **Description:** 1 \- Completed undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology; 2 \- Minimum six (6) months of documented professional experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in hospitals \- adult patient care preferred; 3 \- Professional experience in management activities is desirable; 4 \- Completion of a Multidisciplinary Residency Program or a specialized training program in Hospital Speech-Language Pathology or Dysphagia is desirable. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to contribute to patient health assessment, development of individualized therapeutic plans, and facilitation of hospital discharge; Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on matters related to Speech-Language Pathology services, proposing and discussing solutions to problems and irregularities to support decision-making regarding actions to be implemented and assist in continuous improvement of departmental processes; Support the care of hospitalized patients, contributing to clinical improvement, reduction of sequelae risks and rehospitalizations, specifically through assessment and intervention for dysphagia, oral language, speech, and oral motor function; **Apply speech-language pathology procedures:** perform and instruct exercises; request therapeutic materials; introduce alternative communication methods; apply specific ICU rehabilitation knowledge; assess and rehabilitate facial mimicry; promote treatment adherence and continuity; provide post-discharge therapeutic guidance; stimulate saliva and functional swallowing; recommend enteral tube removal in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; assist with tracheostomy tube exchange and weaning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; adapt speech valves; **Conduct language assessment and therapeutic intervention:** cases of post-stroke aphasia and voice/speech disorders; Provide guidance to patients, caregivers, family members, and healthcare professionals regarding therapeutic interventions; Provide assistance, when necessary, to patients under respiratory isolation (e.g., COVID\-19, H3N2, H1N1\); Prepare reports, assessments, expert opinions, and referrals; Assist in generating spreadsheets containing descriptive and quantitative data on patient interventions; Record all interventions performed in the patient's electronic medical record; Comply with biosafety standards and NR 32 regulations; Follow institutional protocols and patient safety priority guidelines; Adhere to ethical principles throughout professional activities; Participate in collegiate meetings upon request, contributing to discussions and resolution of relevant issues; Assist in gathering information, monitoring, and achieving indicators and goals outlined in departmental action plans; Respond to institutional requests to serve as Preceptor, Tutor, Instructor, and/or Coordinator in educational activities; Participate, together with the multidisciplinary team, in meetings, committees, and programs related to health surveillance, biosafety, hospital epidemiology, and accident prevention, contributing as required within the scope of professional competencies; Support hospital coordinators on matters related to the field of practice, proposing and discussing solutions to problems and irregularities to support decision-making regarding actions to be implemented and assist in continuous improvement of departmental processes; Participate in developing and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applying them in daily practice; Participate in or facilitate Permanent Education initiatives, as required and per institutional policy, within the scope of professional responsibilities; Ensure proper care and maintenance of materials and equipment under personal responsibility to extend their service life; Perform duties observing occupational safety requirements, properly using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all activities, complying with current legislation and institutional norms; Support immediate supervisors on matters related to the field of practice, proposing and discussing solutions to problems and irregularities to support decision-making regarding actions to be implemented and assist in continuous improvement of departmental processes; perform other related tasks of equivalent complexity upon request by the immediate supervisor. 251019020250984287
