The Amazon IES Latech & GIS team is hiring software developers to work at our Software Development Center in Brazil. This team builds new features for Amazon.com (http://amazon.com/) across multiple countries and develops systems supporting Amazon’s operations. You’ll learn how to design, implement, and test highly scalable solutions using AWS’s cloud platform and its diverse product suite, within agile and challenging projects, alongside top professionals in the field. Remember: “it’s always Day 1.” These groups are organized around the following initiatives: BEN – Black Employee Network, Women@Amazon, Glamazon (LGBTQIA+), and People with Disabilities. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** ------------------------ * Understand and evaluate critical end-to-end applications and assess high-level and low-level designs. * Actively contribute to teams’ technical strategy and be accountable for technical tradeoffs potentially impacting existing applications as well as other applications within Amazon. * 5+ years of software development experience. * Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, Kotlin, JavaScript, Clojure, or another object-oriented language. * Systems design and familiarity with application and database programming on UNIX/Linux. * Experience with Agile/Lean (Kanban, SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO modeling, Web Services, UNIX, and databases. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines. * Proven track record building large-scale solutions in ambiguous environments. * Knowledge of software development life-cycle models and experience delivering efficient software. * Customer-facing skills, including deep understanding of requirements. * Recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts. * Proven history delivering large, cross-functional projects. * Verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated analytical and design skills. * Experience mentoring and training the engineering community on complex technical topics.
