Our goal is to build software that delivers a unified shopping experience tailored to each customer’s preferences. Amazon’s EIS LATECH team is hiring software developers. About the Role: A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon tackles business challenges through technology, owns their systems end-to-end, and influences the direction of our technology impacting hundreds of millions of customers globally. At Amazon, an SDE can expect to design flexible and scalable solutions and work on some of the most complex large-scale computing challenges, applying expertise in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. Amazon Brazil values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across all roles, and therefore intentionally cultivates an internal environment reflecting the diversity of the markets we serve and the customers we support. In Brazil, we’ve established a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee composed of representatives from various departments and job levels, recognizing that this agenda requires diverse perspectives and lived experiences. Our leadership is engaged and increasingly understands its role in disseminating and practicing our Leadership Principles, with the goal of becoming “the best place to work in the world.” We recognize our responsibility and the need for change, and remain mindful that “Success and growth bring great responsibilities.” Our Affinity Groups are formed by volunteers from different business units and actively help shape DEI strategies. Additionally, they serve as ambassadors for this agenda and will support you from Day 1. Remember: “it’s always Day 1.” These groups are organized under the following pillars: BEN — Black Employee Network, Women@Amazon, Glamazon (LGBTQIA+), and People with Disabilities. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** ------------------------ * Understand and evaluate critical end-to-end applications and assess high-level and low-level designs. * Actively contribute to teams’ technical strategy and be accountable for technical tradeoffs potentially impacting existing applications as well as other applications across Amazon. * 3+ years of software development experience. * Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, Kotlin, JavaScript, Clojure. * Systems design and familiarity with application and database programming on UNIX/Linux. * Experience with Agile/Lean (Kanban, SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO modeling, Web Services, UNIX, and databases. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines. * Proven track record of developing large-scale solutions in ambiguous environments. * Knowledge of Software Development Life-Cycle models and experience delivering efficient software. * Customer-facing skills, including the ability to deeply understand requirements. * Recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts. * Proven history of delivering large, cross-functional projects. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated analytical and design skills. * Experience guiding and training the engineering community on complex technical topics.
