




Job Summary: The Chemist will develop and adjust paint and varnish formulations to ensure material performance and quality, while also providing technical support. Key Highlights: 1. Knowledge of paint and varnish formulations **Brief Description** The Chemist is a graduate professional with expertise in paint and varnish formulation and technologies, responsible for development, localization, and adjustment activities; ensuring proper material performance and quality, as well as approvals; and capable of providing technical support to production and the technical assistance team for adjustments and problem resolution. **Detailed Responsibilities** * Develop and formulate water-based and solvent-based automotive paints. * Adjust and improve existing product lines according to requirements. * Participate in localization processes or technology transfer of products for the Automotive and Industrial markets. * Participate in technical projects. * Prepare technical reports and bulletins. * Perform weighing and preparation of paint and varnish samples. * Dilute paint and varnish samples for panel application. * Conduct tests and trials as specified in customer specifications. * Operate equipment for measuring paint properties and interpret results. * Perform color measurements and interpret results. * Provide support to Commercial and Technical Assistance teams for resolving line issues and launching new products. * Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process, Quality, and Supply Chain departments, as needed, to support internal investigations, issue resolution, and customer complaints. * Participate in Quality audits for certification maintenance, as required. * Develop and propose cost-competitive alternative products. * Register formulas in the system (GSM and Oracle). * Request registration of new codes. * Evaluate and assess test results and discuss next steps with peers. * Possess extensive knowledge of paint and varnish formulations (raw materials, quantities, and properties). * Record activities, projects, and time spent in management tools (RMT and MasterLab). * Provide support for investigations and problem resolution. * Conduct occasional customer visits for technical meetings. * Maintain laboratory organization and upkeep (5S). * Comply with standards and procedures related to Quality Management, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, and Compliance systems. **Mandatory Requirements** * Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. * English proficiency at Intermediate to Advanced level. * Experience with automotive paints and varnishes. * Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). **Desirable Requirements** * Spanish proficiency at Intermediate level. * Familiarity with enterprise systems (Oracle/SAP). * Knowledge of quality tools (ISO, IATF, 5S, Lean Manufacturing). * Yellow/Green Belt certification and Power BI knowledge preferred. * Postgraduate degree.
