**Job Description** This position requires on-site work in Contagem, MG. **Who will you be working with?** You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, including systems engineering, electrical, software and controls design, validation, manufacturing, sourcing, services, and global engineering organizations. The role interfaces frequently with commercial program management and customer‑facing teams to ensure successful execution and delivery of complex engineering projects. **How will you make a difference?** As a member of the **Engineering – Systems \& Modernization** group, you will be responsible for leading complex locomotive modernization, NPI, Software and Controls Obsolescence projects with broad business impact. The Engineering Technical Leader acts as the primary technical interface across product, commercial program management, engineering design, validation, and production/field implementation teams. This role blends system engineering responsibilities with engineering project management, translating customer and internal business requirements into subsystem designs, coordinating development activities, and ensuring requirements are validated through formal design review processes. You will lead projects end‑to‑end, from concept definition through customer delivery and commissioning, driving technical rigor, execution excellence, and customer‑focused results. **What do we want to know about you?** **Required Experience and Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Electronics, or Computer Science * Extensive experience in product development and execution of engineering projects and/or programs of varying complexity * Strong systems engineering mindset with solid analytical and problem‑solving skills * Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage technical projects with long‑term business impact * Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization * Strong interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills * Ability to adapt quickly to evolving requirements and changing priorities * Willingness to work hands‑on in test laboratories and/or on locomotives as required * Demonstrated capability to mentor and coach less experienced engineers * Ability to interface effectively with internal stakeholders and external customers when necessary **Desired Characteristics:** * Master’s degree in Engineering * Familiarity with manufacturing processes * Six Sigma training or certification **What will your typical day look like?** * Provide technical leadership to engineering teams supporting NPI, Software, Controls Obsolescence, and locomotive modernization projects * Interpret and decompose system‑level customer and business requirements into clear, actionable subsystem requirements * Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project schedules, ensuring alignment of engineering resources for successful execution * Coordinate design and development activities and lead formal design reviews to ensure technical rigor and requirement compliance * Analyze technical and program risks, proactively developing and implementing mitigation plans * Perform and guide system‑level design analysis, identifying practical improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability * Create and maintain system‑level documentation using standard engineering processes and tools (QSW, DOORS, EDOT, PLM, Reliance, etc.) * Organize and execute system‑level validation and verification plans * Support service programs, fulfillment activities, and New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives * Support customer delivery and commissioning activities, on‑site or remotely, as needed * Communicate project status, risks, and results clearly to stakeholders at all organizational levels * Mentor and guide less experienced team members, fostering technical growth and best practices **Benefits:** At Wabtec, people come first.
