A surveying assistant on earthwork projects supports field topographic activities, assisting the surveyor in performing surveys, measurements, and geometric control of the terrain according to project specifications. Responsibilities include marking stakes, reference points, and elevation benchmarks; supporting leveling operations; verifying cut and fill elevations; and handling and positioning topographic instruments such as rods, prisms, and tape measures. The assistant also aids in field data collection and recording, ensures proper maintenance of equipment, and complies with site safety regulations and established procedures.
