Description
Job Summary:
Ensure compliance of materials for hot-dip galvanizing, guaranteeing traceability, quality, and smoothness in the production process.
Key Highlights:
1. Qualitative and quantitative inspection of industrial materials.
2. Work in an industrial environment with a focus on metallurgical processes.
3. Focus on quality control and inspection of parts for galvanization.
**Job Mission**
Ensure all materials received for the hot-dip galvanizing process comply with technical, quantitative, and documentary specifications, guaranteeing traceability, quality, and smoothness in the production process.
**Main Responsibilities**
* Perform quantitative and qualitative inspection of received materials (parts, structures, angles, sheets, etc.).
* Validate dimensions, weight, steel type, and physical integrity of parts.
* Verify compliance with technical drawings and production orders.
* Identify non-conformities (e.g., deformations, excessive oxidation, contaminants, improper welds, etc.).
* Segregate non-conforming materials and notify responsible departments (Quality/Production/Engineering).
* Ensure identification and traceability of batches (labels, codes, markings).
* Record incoming materials in the system (ERP or internal controls).
* Support physical organization of materials in the yard/receiving area.
* Inspect specific requirements for galvanization (vent/drain holes, prior cleaning, absence of contaminants such as oil, paint, grease, silicone, etc.).
* Coordinate with logistics, production, and internal customers to align priorities.
* Assist in FIFO (First In, First Out) control where applicable.
**Specific Activities in the Galvanization Process**
* Verify that parts meet requirements for immersion in the zinc bath (suitable geometry).
* Assess risks of air or solution entrapment (process safety).
* Validate presence of ventilation and drainage holes per best practices.
* Verify material compatibility with the process (e.g., steel composition affecting reactivity with zinc).
* Identify parts at risk of warping or thermal deformation.
**Job Requirements**
**Education**
* Completed high school (technical training in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, or related fields preferred).
**Experience**
* Experience in industrial material inspection, preferably in:
* Metallurgy
* Boiler-making
* Hot-dip galvanizing
**Technical Knowledge**
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* Measuring instruments (tape measure, caliper, micrometer – basic level).
* Familiarity with hot-dip galvanizing processes.
* Basic knowledge of steel types and their applications.
* Understanding of quality control and inspection principles.
* Basic computer skills (ERP, Excel).
**Behavioral Competencies**
* Attention to detail
* Organization
* Critical thinking
* Responsibility
* Clear communication
* Proactivity
* Teamwork
**Working Conditions**
* Work in an industrial environment (yard and production area).
* Exposure to weather conditions and manual handling of loads.
* Mandatory use of PPE.
**Performance Indicators (KPIs)**
* Rate of non-conformities identified upon receipt.
* Rework rate due to inspection failures.
* Inventory/incoming control accuracy.
* Time required to release materials for production.
* Incidents caused by failures impacting the production process.
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Prior experience in hot-dip galvanizing.
* Knowledge of technical standards (e.g., galvanizing, quality).
* Experience with metal structures (towers, supports, etc.).
