**Job Description** Set up, adjust and operate a conventional mechanical lathe, installing appropriate tools, operating start/stop controls, workpiece rotation and tool feed, using measuring and control instruments, to rough-turn, finish-turn, cut, thread or perform other turning operations on metal and composite parts. Plan operation sequences, perform technical calculations, and may implement environmental preservation actions. Depending on the company’s division of labor, they may only prepare or operate machine tools. Document technical information, carry out quality and environmental preservation actions, and work in accordance with safety standards. **Activities and Responsibilities** * Examine parts to be turned, interpreting technical drawings, sketches, models and specifications to plan operations; * Plan the sequence of operations and perform technical calculations required for the machining process; * Select measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, squares, levels, among others), cutting tools, drills, chucks and clamping devices; * Position, align and secure tools on the lathe, adjusting them appropriately for machining; * Position, center and secure workpieces on the lathe using chucks, clamps, angle plates and other devices, ensuring stability and precision; * Adjust machine mechanisms, setting rotational speed, feed rate and other machining parameters; * Operate the mechanical lathe, performing rough-turning, finishing, cutting, threading and other turning processes; * Adjust and control lubrication flow to preserve tool cutting edges and cutting angles; * Inspect machined parts, verifying dimensions, dimensional accuracy and surface finish; * Perform operational adjustments and tool changes whenever necessary; * Document technical information from the production process; * Carry out quality and environmental preservation actions and strictly comply with safety standards; * Perform other related activities compatible with the position and organizational environment. **Requirements** * Completed high school education; * Vocational training course in machining or mechanical turning; * Knowledge of reading and interpreting technical drawings; * Knowledge of measuring instruments; * Experience with conventional mechanical lathes; * Reside in Maceió/AL.
