Job Summary: Work on the development of biotechnological solutions for biomass conversion and enzyme production, with a focus on genetic engineering of filamentous fungi, in a collaborative and dynamic environment. Key Highlights: 1. Development of biotechnological solutions and genetic engineering of fungi. 2. Collaborative, dynamic environment committed to scientific excellence. 3. Applied research, innovation, and validation at laboratory and pilot scales. To join the Fungal Biofactories Group at the National Laboratory of BioRenewables (LNBr) The Fungal Biofactories Group at LNBr develops biotechnological solutions aimed at sustainable biomass conversion and the production of industrially relevant enzymes and proteins. Our work involves genetic engineering of filamentous fungi—particularly Trichoderma reesei—to optimize enzymatic cocktails, enable heterologous expression, improve saccharification processes, and develop bioprocesses. Our activities integrate applied research, innovation, and validation at laboratory and pilot scales. The group is distinguished by its collaborative, dynamic environment and commitment to scientific excellence. **Responsibilities and Duties** * Implement genetic modification strategies in microorganisms (with emphasis on filamentous fungi), including vector construction and expression cassette assembly; * Perform transformations, selection, and molecular validation of recombinant strains (PCR, qPCR, sequencing...); * Assess gene expression levels and stability of constructs; * Prepare samples for genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics analyses; * Carry out extraction and quantification of DNA, RNA, and proteins with quality control; * Support omics data analysis (basic bioinformatics pipeline, statistical analysis, and biological interpretation); * Integrate omics data with phenotypic and biochemical results to guide engineering strategies; * Plan experiments using appropriate statistical design; * Organize and maintain experimental records and databases; * Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, project deliverables, and scientific manuscripts; * Collaborate closely with other teams within the group. **Requirements and Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Engineering, or related fields; * Experience in molecular biology; * Experience in organizing and tracking experimental data, as well as preparing technical reports and scientific documentation; * Knowledge of cultivation and maintenance of filamentous fungi; * Understanding of fundamentals in genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics; * Familiarity with data organization and analysis tools (Excel, GraphPad, R or similar); Intermediate English proficiency is required. * **Desirable** **** * Experience with transformation of filamentous fungi and selection of transformants; * Experience with extraction and quality control of DNA, RNA, and proteins; * Experience with basic NGS data analysis; * Knowledge of bioinformatics tools (e.g., sequence alignment, differential expression analysis); * Basic understanding of statistics applied to biological data and multi\-omics data integration; * Knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis. **Additional Information** **Our Benefits** Health Insurance – Unimed Dental Insurance – Uniodonto Psychological Support – Telavita Life Insurance – Allianz Private Pension Plan – BrasilPrev Maternity Leave (extended to 6 months) Paternity Leave (25 days) Childcare Allowance On-site Restaurant Meal and/or Food Allowance – Pluxee (R$1\.020,00/mouth) Shuttle Service Transportation Voucher On-site Parking Club – Telecamp Club – Free SESC Association Wellhub – discounts at gyms Partnerships with companies offering discounts **We reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging applications from people with disabilities, neurodiverse individuals, women, LGBTI\+, individuals of diverse ethnicities, generations, and body types, as well as other socially marginalized groups.** At the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), we are driven by a passion for science. Our environment is a vibrant research and development hub where professionals from diverse specialties connect to tackle complex challenges and create solutions for pressing issues—especially in health, energy, renewable materials, and sustainability. We are a Social Organization supervised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), at the forefront of scientific research in Brazil. We operate Sirius—the largest scientific infrastructure ever built in the country—and are currently developing the Orion project: a dedicated laboratory complex for advanced pathogen research, available to the national and international scientific community. We offer a broad range of career opportunities for professionals with diverse profiles. At CNPEM, we conduct cutting-edge research spanning nanotechnology, biosciences, biotechnology, bioRenewables, scientific instrumentation, and accelerator physics—carried out respectively by the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNNano), the National Biosciences Laboratory (LNBio), the National BioRenewables Laboratory (LNBR), and the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS). These initiatives are reinforced by challenging technology projects and frontier-engineering solution-seeking efforts led by the Deputy Directorate for Technology (DAT). This entire ecosystem is supported by an integrated network of strategic areas—including information technology, communications, project management, legal \& compliance advisory, human resources, finance, procurement, sustainability, and innovation—distributed across the General Directorate (DG) and the Shared Services Directorate (DSC). The Deputy Directorate for Infrastructure (DAI) ensures facility maintenance, engineering support, and architectural development, creating optimal conditions for advancing all activities. Ilum School of Science complements these efforts with a Bachelor’s program in Science and Technology, delivering innovative training that prepares new generations of scientists for future challenges. We believe success is achieved through dedication, collaboration, and a clear sense of purpose. We value continuous development for our professionals and students, offering an inspiring and supportive environment for professional and personal growth. We are committed to sustainability and seek solutions that promote a greener future. We prioritize the care and well\-being of our employees while valuing diversity and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome and respected. **If you are passionate about science and seeking a place where you can make a difference, join us at CNPEM.**
