Our **Toolroom Operator**'s mission is to **receive drawings, analyze and define machining strategies, perform machining, measure, and deliver work according to design drawings and project specifications, all done safely**. **Responsibilities and duties** * Accurately analyze technical drawings (plans, cross-sections, exploded views) to identify geometric characteristics (dimensions, tolerances, surface roughness), material specifications, and machining strategies. * Interpret symbols and annotations present in drawings, such as line types, scale, surface finish, dimensional and geometric tolerances. * Identify and understand the different stages of the machining process described in the technical drawing. * Develop machining processes for parts, dimensioning and selecting appropriate tools such as drills, end mills, cutting tools, and abrasives, considering the characteristics of the part to be machined. * Calculate cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut) according to the workpiece material, tool used, and machine capacity. * Define the sequence of machining operations (machining, drilling, milling, grinding) to optimize production time and ensure part quality. * Select the most suitable machining tools for each operation, considering the workpiece material, type of machining, and desired finish. * Choose the most appropriate machine tool for each operation, considering the part characteristics, available tools, and machine capacity. * Set up and program CNC machines (CNC lathe, CNC machining center, EDM) according to the machining plan and the program generated by CAM software. * Monitor the machining process during program execution, verifying that the part is being machined according to specifications. * Make adjustments to the CNC machine program when necessary to correct errors or optimize the machining process. * Use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to verify dimensions and tolerances of machined parts. This ensures that the dimensions specified in the design or drawing are accurately represented in the machined part; thus, checking and meeting project or drawing specifications is essential. * Compare measurement results with technical drawing specifications to ensure part quality and notify the supervisor in case of measurement discrepancies. * Inspect (checklist) machine tools (lathe, milling machine, drill press, EDM) before machining to verify they are in good working condition and report anomalies to the supervisor.
