Elementary English Teacher | Maple Bear

**Position:** English Teacher **Reports to:** Pedagogical Director, Coordination, and Administrative Director **Job Overview:** Responsible for providing a safe and healthy environment for children's development; proactive and creative in activity implementation; plan and execute teaching activities, clarifying doubts with the Management and Pedagogical Coordination; operationally define curriculum plan objectives; respond to school management requests regarding teaching activities carried out within the school. **Responsibilities and duties:** * Know and stay updated on the Maple Bear methodology, as well as uphold the school’s rules, procedures, and protocols; * Assist in implementing the culture and practice positive discipline consistently with everyone (students and staff), maintaining appropriate communication (low tone of voice, no shouting); * Attend pedagogical meetings and events according to the school's annual calendar; * Use only English in the presence of students, especially in the classroom; except for Portuguese subject specialists. * Complete weekly lesson planning one week in advance, save and share it on Google Chat every Wednesday; * Send approved lesson plans to teaching assistants (TA) via the class Google Chat; * Keep teaching assistants (TA) informed about the daily routine, involve and supervise them in activities, supporting the TA team to achieve excellence in the classroom; * Provide clear instructions (schedules, activities, dates) to teaching assistants (TA) so they can assist in preparing necessary materials for scheduled activities; * Participate in biweekly planning meetings with the pedagogical team and teaching assistants (TA); * Create and save documents and activities separately by unit in the Drive folder for your level on a weekly basis; * Prepare class materials in advance; * Submit material requests via Google Chat every other Wednesday (biweekly); * Request the unit book box from the librarian via Google Chat Library at least 3 days in advance; * Monitor and record student performance daily/weekly when preparing reports/report cards; * Complete the Continuum and write reports quarterly, submitting them for review by the due date set by Pedagogical Coordination/Management; * Forward to pedagogical coordination the names of students presenting any difficulties in class: cognitive and/or behavioral; * Organize student portfolios at the end of each quarter to present to parents; * Prepare individual reports for students in your class at the end of each quarter; * Complete Report Cards at the end of each semester; * Record student attendance and absences daily in the Sponte system; * Record daily classroom content covered in the Tell Me system (routine/daily question); * Check and reply daily to parent messages through the electronic agenda; * Record each student's snack in the Tell Me system; * Inform pedagogical coordination about the need to purchase, repair, or remove teaching materials from classrooms; * Organize and file student activities in classroom folders; * Guide students during transitions (arrival, playground, courtyard, open theater, departure, fire drill, lockdown); * Record in the Toddle app any student incident and notify the pedagogical team as soon as possible (bruises from falls, bites, conflicts between students, knocked-out teeth, hair pulling resulting in clumps removed, vomiting, hits, scratches, pinches, door injuries, insect stings, food poisoning, spitting, sudden illnesses, choking, burns, shocks, cuts, unintentional injuries, eating or inserting foreign objects into nose/ears, damage to student belongings, or damage to school property); * Communicate with parents together with the pedagogical coordination. **Hard Skills** * Bachelor's degree in Education or Languages; * Postgraduate degree or specialization courses in education are desirable; * Knowledge of positive discipline methods; * Fluent English. **Cultural Fit:** **We care** – Cares for people with respect and empathy.
